To get you guys up to speed this was the post I made before; http://www.loveshack.org/forums/mind-body-soul/physical-fitness-health-weight-management/376978-having-trouble-cutting-weight

I took the advice of the posters there and am finding it very difficult to increase my caloric intake without eating junk food.

I desperately need to cut weight for the physical/weigh in, and fast. I really don't care about abusing my body to be honest; that's how important this is to me. I already abstain from all alcohol and smoking and drink a ton of water.

Anyway, I am considering a juice fast. Has anybody done one of these before?

The advice given to you in your previous thread was very sound. Nevertheless, if you must cut weight in a very short period of time for a specific weigh in, you may want to read up on water manipulation.

Your body is 75% water or so, so obviously manipulating that can make a huge difference fast. Eliminating carbs and sodium a week or so prior to your weigh in would make the most difference on the scale as well as cutting water intake 24-36 hours prior.

Additionally too much cardio will make you hold water as well. And it will also cause you to make too much cortisol which will shut down fat loss.

Check out advice about how bodybuilders prep for a show. And Leigh Peele has a good article on water manipulation as well.

Good luck!

You're going about this WAY wrong. Sunshine is absolutely right. Cut down the cardio. You are releasing cortisol.

Try this:

Do two 24 hours fasts a week. Look at Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat. It works.

On other days, eat in an 8 hour window. Meaning Go 16 hours between dinner and your next meal.

Avoid bread, pasta, grains, alcohol, rice. Eat Sweet potatoes instead of regular. Avoid prcessed sugar

Drink a TON of water to flush you out

Work out in a fasted state

Now to improve your pullup numbers... The less weight you are the easier it is, but you don't want to lose strength or muscle.

So my suggestion is do a lot of pullups. Do sets of 5-7 in between all your other lifts. So, when you do a bench set, do a set of 5-7 in between bench sets. Everything except rows. You won't have to do biceps because you're hitting everything doing pullups. Try to do 100-150 a week.

Finally for conditioning. Do sprints, jump rope, circuit training, kettlebell swings. You're better off doing 10-20 minutes fast and furious.

The key is to maximize your human growth hormone which burns fat. You release the most growth hormone when you A. Sleep, B. Fast, C. Workout. By working out in a fasted state, you are secreting the most HGH.

Very useful advice from both of you, thanks. I've already started cutting my cardio down to 30 mins but at a much more intense rate. I average probably a 180 heart rate the whole time.

I've researched water manipulation a bit, and hit a wall on it. Let's say I eventually need to shed a few pounds, like 5-10 (trying to be realistic), would you guys recommend any specific method? I've researched sauna suits and didn't read very good things. It seems the easiest way to do it, but I'm horrified of severe dehydration or getting loopy in the head from doing it.

Thanks a million.

If you want to EVENTUALLY lose 5-10 pounds, there is no better way than what has already been told to you. Eat clean, eat enough, lots of protein, weight train progressively heavy and hard, and moderate cardio. That is the answer.

Other types of manipulation and short term tricks are just that. Short term tricks for a specific weigh in or competition. I can change my scale weight by 5-6 pounds in 3-4 days simply by cutting carbs, caffeine and salt.

It doesn't take extreme measures to get extreme results. But it seems like you think you have to be extreme about it.

Google esquire kale juice recipe. I use it if I go over my weight target for more than a week, and it works. My friends use it as well, but I have never done any research on it. If you can find the whole esquire article, that's what you want.
