When she said she wanted a break, I asked her if that meant she wanted to date other people. She said no, she wants to concentrate on school, figure out some things by herself, and be single. She had a bad relationship in the past which she hasn't gotten over yet and wasn't ready for anything serious. She also has abandonment issues. This has led me to think that maybe she really does need some time to think about things. The thing is we're in a long distance relationship so this really bothers me. What is the real meaning of this? Will a girl sleep with other guys while on a break? Anyone have any personal experiences?

She may have not gone out with them but she maybe talking to them or at least thinking about them. It's an excuse to try on the new relationship. And yes they will sleep with other guys. Think about it. Who really wants to be alone? Why else would they suddenly need a break? I got the same excuse. My ex is now living with someone new.

I don't mind facing the music. the thing is she's not over her ex and wasn't ready for a serious relationship, is there really no hope that she just needs space to think about things? we jumped into ours really fast. TheWeeknd Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) When a girl says they want a break, it means they are thinking of actually breaking up. They are using the "Break" excuse to test out the waters to see how life will be if they actually break up with you. Trust me, my ex asked for a break a few weeks before she dumped me. If I was you, I would agree with the break and tell her that you have seen the relationship heading down a bad direction and that it is best that the both of you take the time to find out what each other wants for the relationship. When she sees you being strong and confirming the break, she will be more cautious of going through with the breakup. Don't be like me, agreeing passively and acted as if everything was OK and denying the inevitable breakup/problems that were occurring in the relationship. Edited March 11, 2013 by TheWeeknd
