Eternal Sunshine Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I have something for you. I went on 1 date with a guy a month ago (from OKC). Things didn't go badly but the vibe was off and I got the impression that neither of us was that interested. He never contacted me again, nor I him. Ever since then, he visits my profile EVERY day, multiple times a day. WTF. Today, he did it 7 times Why would anyone do that if they obviously weren't even interested enough for a second date. I am ignoring it but it's just bizarre behavior.
Pyro Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Maybe he does it for the visuals. I wonder if he is aware that you can keep track of who views your profile.

Actually, good thinking. He did mention that I am the first girl he met through OLD and he never did OLD before. He probably doesn't know
sillyanswer Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Why haven't you clicked that button that says "hide" that shows up near his photo? (eg in your visitors list... you don't have to visit his profile). Seriously, this is the best feature on OKC... if I see a profile of someone and I'm not attracted, or if I go on a date and it didn't work out, then I hide the profile so that I don't waste my time on it again.

rocketman122 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 you obviously left an impression on him. dont know OKC, I just did jdate, but isnt there a block button? we three different ones. 1-cant contact me 2-cant look at my profile 3-wont show up when they search for me
soccerrprp Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 yup, you left an impression and positive as it would appear. he's probably wondering why it didn't work out and scheming, struggling over whether to contact you again or not...
sillyanswer Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I have been using OKC for such a long time and I didn't know that Thanks for the tip You're welcome. Just so you know... it doesn't hide you from him, but it hides him from you. So he can still look at your profile if he wants (or send you a message), but you won't see him pop up in your Visitors list and you won't see him if you do searches etc. My Hidden list must be in the thousands.
salparadise Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 How can you see how many times he visited? Not that I've had any problem with stalkers. I am having the opposite problem. I sometimes go a week without a new visitor. I wonder if I'm not showing up in searches. I used to get a lot more activity.
Author Eternal Sunshine Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 I use computer a lot for research and always have OKC open in another browser window (as I do LS ). So because I am nearly always logged in, I guess I am at the top of searches. And I also glance at my visitors list every few hours. Yes, I lead a boring life :S 1
ltjg45 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Yes, I lead a boring life :S I'm sure, from the number of regulars here, you are not alone on that. I don't even take OLD too seriously due to lack of quality photos so, until I can find a suitable place to take better pictures, no point PMing any females that I would be interested in. Unfortunately, that doesn't even matter since there is very few females I would be interested in. I got little/no interest in music so that scratches out almost all black females, no interest in attending church so that hurts a good portion of white females, and well, if they know the kind of life I'm living, I would scare away the majority of the remaining left. But, I'm going off-topic again (I need to change my title on this account to off-topic master). As for the question on hand, like others have said, he must have gotten interest in you again and was considering PMing you back for another shot. Something must have went right during the only date you two went through for that to happen. I doubt he would since he figured he let too much time goes and fears rejection, which is understandable. Most females would go from one date to single for an extended period of time and I'm sure he considered that.
sillyanswer Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Morbid curiosity. What if. And because ES is hot. He likes the pics. 2
Author Eternal Sunshine Posted March 9, 2013 Author Posted March 9, 2013 And because ES is hot. He likes the pics. Aw thank you. That's very sweet of you to say 1

A week without a woman looking at your profile? that doesnt sound right. do you have pictures up? if its true, that sucks. I got 10 hits on the weekends when it was slow.

I got 10 hits on the weekends when it was slow. Yes, there were 5 days recently with no visitors, and then just one every few days for awhile. I live in a rather sparsely populated area so I don't expect tons of activity. Perhaps once the limited pool of locals has visited they don't come back around, but even then it doesn't seem quite right. I have several pics and a well written profile. I usually get compliments on the profile when I'm contacted. I wonder if there's some kind of algorithm that determines how often a profile shows up. I just went in and edited the text to see if that will make a difference.

Imported Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Sounds like he has set your profile as his browser's home page so every time he starts his browser, "pop" there you are. Could be. A lot of times when I log onto this forum from my tablet, I click on my URL box and type "L" and click on the first drop down link. Before I reset my cache, I always started viewing this forum on the same thread.

My understanding was that it affected both same way. From the OKC Privacy Controls page: Hiding Users If you don’t want a particular person appearing in your Match Search, Quickmatch, Welcome and sidebar matches, or in your Visitors list, you can hide them. Hiding is reciprocal, and will also stop you from appearing in all of the same areas for the person you hid. Note that this will not prevent them from messaging you. end quote
USMCHokie Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Perhaps it's a very indirect way of him trying to hint that he's still kind of interested...especially if he's new to online dating and may be a little timid to carry on conversation... He might know that you can see him visiting and hope that will piqué your interest in his interest. I actually used to do this in my chickensh*t days... But I merely speculate. 2

(I have a feeling they've upgraded this feature, which is a good thing.) 1

Have you ever perhaps given any consideration to changing your avatar? To, you know, something less creepy. 3
Pyro Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Have you ever perhaps given any consideration to changing your avatar? To, you know, something less creepy. I've asked at least three times. Hopefully he will say yes to you. 1
