I have known this girl for quite a while now. We had developed a strong friendship, I had developed "more than friends" feelings along the way, and she told me she couldn't be in a relationship. I know most people say that when a woman says she doesn't want to be in a relationship it means she doesn't want to be in a relationship with you. I think that is not the case here. I had confronted her about it and we had a long discussion and she really just does not want to have a boyfriend right now. This all happened a few months ago and I told myself I was ok with being friends. I really thought I could do it, but my feelings seem to have resurfaced and we have gotten even closer now. I really don't know what to do. I have thought it through and I feel like the only thing I can do is end the friendship. Is this a horrible idea? I don't want to do it, but I feel so miserable knowing we won't be more than friends. I care about her so much, but I just cannot see us truly being friends and only friends. Any suggestions? Is there a way I can end the friendship without outright telling her at this point?

You don't have to officially end the friendship. Just move on and don't put a lot of energy into it. When you start seeing other women and then get serious with one of them, that's when she'll come at you with a vengeance and want to get something going. It's just human nature. Some people just want what they can't have. Since you are presenting yourself to her as a friend and with the desire for more, what is there for her to long for.

If you don't learn this now...you'll learn it one day. Just take my word for it now and save yourself some time. The lesson: People desire MORE what is not readily available to them.

Now go out and do it!
