Hi,

I wen't on a first date at the weekend, we had a great time. We kissed throughout the date then I walked her home where we held hands the whole way and stopped to kiss several times and couldn't keep our hands of each other if i'm honest.

On parting I said I hoped to see her soon, she agreed by saying she would love to see me again. We had talked about various ideas on the walk home, saying it would be great to do this that and the other together.

I decided to text her yesterday afternoon, I just said 'how are you. Really enjoyed last night, look forward to seeing you again sometime soon' but now over 36 hours have passed and nothing. Is she just playing it cool?

I'm thinking I should have left it but i'm not into game playing and only wanted to reinforce the fact I had enjoyed her company. I though I might leave it a couple of days then call, with a solid date idea...see if that works and if not leave it alone?

Many thanks for reading.

Nope the balls in her court. She is either doing one of two things: either waiting a few days to respond to you so that she does not seem 'too eager' or ignoring her to let you know she is not interested. Don't message her back, ball is in her court. If she gets bac to you she does, if she doesn't then you just have to move onto the next one.

I agree, the ball is in her court. You could reach out to her in a week, if you haven't heard from her, but cultivate other options. Unless she's got a family emergency, then it's not a good sign that she hasn't responded (does she normally?) to your text. Even if it's just a tactic to pretend she's not too eager, do you want someone who employs games and tactics?

I do know she has had some family issues she mentioned on the date but also works shifts which isn't an excuse for NO response but I guess it could play a part.

As for text contact, I called and asked her out, she text back after a few hours and the next and final text took 10-12 hours (overnight). Once we had agreed the time/place on the wednesday there was no further contact until we met on the saturday, even to check it was still on...she doesn't seem the type to need to get in the last word, does this maybe make things a bit clearer?

Thanks

Sounds like she was into you, so try again in couple days.

She may have lost her phone or forgot to charge it or something like that.

Thats what I thought or hoped as I have done the very same thing (Lost my phone) after just getting a girls number never to see her again. I figure give her the benefit of the doubt and call (not text) her with an invite for a second date not just a generic text - if I then get no answer or reply then........

Why is it 9 times out of 10 when the thread is about someone next texting another person back, it's a guy waiting for a girl to respond to his text?

1.) Sorry I meant *not* texting back. Typo. Sorry, 5am here ;)

2.) No, most of these text threads are "I had a good date, texted her that I had fun, she never texted back", or "Asked her out, she never texted back", or "Told her I really like her, never texted back".

I would think making out on the first date is a sign she is into you. Her not responding to your text after a make out first date would mean she is embarrassed from her behavior and is concerned it has gone too fast with you.

Get in her head: Kissing, holding hands with a guy on our first date! OMG! He thinks I'm easy! Wait! Do I really like this guy? I think I should forget about him and forget this ever happened! He was sweet! I'll wait a week before I respond. What do my friends think? Don't contact him. If he really likes me he will call me! I'm not sure what I want.

My advice: call her. If she doesn't pick up leave a short message. Then it is up to her to contact you.

Thanks you Truth Seeker, I don't know if you are a guy or girl but you have written most of what I have been thinking and it makes perfect sense and really helped to hear it from somebody else!

I plan to call her tomorrow and ask her out for a second date, something not involving bars and alcohol (Not that we drank much) - I hope this will help allay any fears she may have that I am possibly just in it for a 'quickie' so to speak, I want her to feel comfortable and take the pace off where we possibly find ourselves at the first date...does that make sense? A connection can be made quickly as I have experienced several times over the years - her being younger than me by a decent amount may also play a part in some of what you mentioned, where I felt a connection and was comfortable with it she may well feel a bit freaked out at feeling that very same connection so soon.
