I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this topic but it incompasses a number of areas. First off, things are finally starting to go the way I hoped they would after a long time of trying to figure things out. I have recently moved and no very few people around here. I can be very shy and times but I'm trying to get involved with more activities. I'm in school, joined a gym, and looking into some volunteer work.

However, I can be very shy at times and it can be hard to meet people, especially since I didn't know anybody here before I moved. Like some other people on this site I also have a problem of starting conversations with girls. The weird thing is when I try to approach a girl I'm more afraid of acceptance than rejection. Maybe I plan for rejection and get caught off guard and don't know how to take it to the next step.

Anyways, if anybody has any suggestions on ways to meet more people or how to start up conversations I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Well meeting new ppl can be hard and intimidating.

While I understand that you have mixed feeling of fear over acceptance and rejection, I guess the best thing to do is to not look at ppl (girls) as possible romantic partners, but look at them as potential friends, just someone to chill with you know?

I think you may be worrying to much IF there could be a romantic attraction and that feels like a lot of pressure.

Start with this..... when you get out make a point of saying hello to at least 5 ppl everyday for a week do this, start to build some confidence that most ppl are nice and will return a greeting with a smile and like words.

Then the following week, continue to say hello to at least 5 ppl you don't know and when you get to the 5th one, introduce yourself (lol I mean don't be wierd about it like if your standing in line to go pee or something) but if the opportunity presents itself, then do so.

Tell this person you are new to the area and ask if they have any suggestions of things that are of interest.

Taking those first steps are not easy, but being alone and feeling sheltered from the rest of the world, I would think would be a lot worse?
