SendHope Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I'm roughly 1.5 months of LC (we work together). I'm just wondering if fellow NCers are experiencing the same thing? The first two weeks were tough but it was steady after that. Lately though, I feel that my longing for my ex-girlfriend is getting stronger. I do try and get out and keep myself busy. I'm a textbook introvert so my week isn't littered with social outings and stuff. Is this normal?
TaraMaiden Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Yes. Think of NC as 'rehab for the heart'. If for example, you were to go to Al-Anon, or Narc-Anon, they would tell you that a habit takes about 4 - 5 weeks to form - and a bit longer than that, to break. Remember you're doing 'Cold Turkey'. And it hurts. It's bound to, your whole system - physical and emotional - is being deprived of something it truly enjoyed. Sure, it's normal. You're doing great, you will be fine.
Author SendHope Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Thanks! It's been a double whammy since I've been sick today so I've been in my head a lot today. I can't help but think that its withdrawal symptoms as well though it's most likely just the cause of this nasty weather in Missouri.
TaraMaiden Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Yeah, you're at a low ebb. It's all going to matter, and when your defences are down, the microbes invade. Keep well, look after yourself. By all means indulge yourself - but for a finite time. Give yourself an hour to wallow - then do something for yourself to make yourself feel good....
