It's possible but I doubt it as well, the two were just inseparable. She was there in his final hours by Mary's side (his mother), she was devastated by his death and went to his burial tomb to mourn and anoint his feet (at which time she discovered his body was missing). Despite the fact that she literally followed him absolutely everywhere, she loved him, that much shows.

Which song, the one where he helps his friend rape his own mother or the one where he falls for the girl that has HIV? I'll agree with you on the latter, but the former, not so much.

Try 'Harlem Renaissance' if you like a jaunty tune, it's pretty non-rapey or HIVy. And it's not acoustic, either.;)

PS: You might have to analyse that dynamic in relation to that guy's 'lyrics', the context is simply not there, plus MM was a hooker, wasn't she? Do you like the way the guy is referring to himself as Jesus? Hehe, Jesuses with guitars, I love it.

Hmm, perhaps I'll give it a go. I thought the HIV one was pretty sweet, not even going to lie, I almost teared up by the end when she wrote him that letter before she died.

The catholic church associated her with an unnamed prostitute in one gospel to defame her. Which adds suspicion to the story. They really didn't like her but yet Jesus always had her by his side, and she was there with his mother at the very end. I agree the context wasn't quite fitting in the lyrics but I liked the name drop. Was a tad arrogant if he was referring to himself as Jesus, I can't see Jesus with a guitar singing about a stripper. That would be kind of funny though.

The dude I dated last summer was a musician. He was also non-committal. At one of his shows he played a song all about how he was just going to end up disappointing me.

Which he did.

No its not common sense. It is so hard to find a guy who has this so called common sense and is actually respectful...not to bash men but this is a dating forum where I am allowed to vent. I am almost 25 and date guys my age or older and talot of them still act like knuckleheads. My friends have the same experiences as well so its not just me. Alot of them have boyfriends that I was convinced werent like this when I first met them, years later it turns out they are like this too. I have really come to the conclusion if I want to have a boyfriend I will have to put up with disrespect and rudeness on a somewhat daily basis and this is why being single appeals to me now

We're not all like that. I know It's easy to make broad assumptions about a gender based on personal experience, but at least personally I have hope that there's plenty of decent kind-hearted women with good morals out there regardless of the fact that I haven't met a whole lot in my lifetime. Maybe we're just picking from the wrong piles of individuals, who knows. Granted, that's why I'm single as well, dating gets to be tiring.

But he took most care of the lowest of the lowest: cripples, lepers, prostitutes etc... It's not that weird right?

This why I date women!

I agree with you kimberlydoll. Taking a break from dating can be a good thing. After ending a bad relationship, I have found that taking a few months to be independent and take care of myself and get my **** together has put me in a healthier position to date and be more open to letting love find me. I highly recommend it.

True that, the out casts were his people. He claimed to be calling the sinners to repentance and that the righteous had no need for him. Neat guy really. Still, they claim he lived a sinless life (which is suspicious considering like 17 years of his life are completely missing) which would mean he probably didn't fall in love with any strippers then sing songs about them in-between preaching sermons. But hey, I wasn't there, who knows what really happened.

If he were doing it right, he'd have a whole album of songs about you by now. And in your songs, you wouldn't be a prostitute :o

How did you find out it is about her?

He records it at home...? How many times can you record the SAME SONG?! Is he a musician in the sense that he plays gigs? Or is this just him strumming away at home?

I found out about "the slut" as his mom calls her (i know not very original, but it tells of her character) before we started dating. He had to go to NYC for a volunteer project and decided to save some money and stay with her for a couple days. He claims they always were just friends and he thinks of her as a little sister. It didn't bother me before until his parents told me about her. Apparently at a friend's wedding one of his college buddies came up to his mom and said "I apologize for ever introducing your son to her." She has pretty much been thrown out of the circle of friends because she uses people to get her way. I never knew they had sex until we started dating.

You would be surprised how many times you can record it. It is pretty much an obsession when he records any of his songs. Yes he does it at home.

To be honest I think writing music and playing music is a beautiful hobby, but when you start to obsess over it and hurt other people that is when it becomes another beast entirely.

Songwriters have to draw from their experiences, so you can't fault him for simply having written a song about his ex. However, a lot of things bother me:

- His hostile/disrespectful reaction to your having a problem with the song

- The fact that he'd have sex with a slut like that girl in the first place

- The fact that he seems to be still infatuated with her

- The fact that he sticks the song in your face knowing you don't want to hear it

I don't like telling strangers to end their relationships after viewing 1 forum thread. But I have to say I am not at all hopeful about this guy.

I gather this guy does not play music for a living or for $ on the side. It is a little weird that he is still working on revamping the song about his stripper ex, all these years later. (and it has the line, marry me, marry me) She must have really knocked his socks off. He should have been vague about who the song was about to avoid any drama, such as what we have here right now.

I think its a 50:50 situation. He has been playing the song for years, so it just seems natural to him to keep playing his little composition every now & then, and you have to allow for the fact that he has written songs about exes. It would be a little more forgiving if the song wasn't about them having sex though. He should show respect to you though, since he knows you hate the song, and to limit the amount of times he plays it in your presence or sings the lyrics out load anyway.

I agree. Some people have no tact nor do they have class. If I wrote a song 9 years ago, that I still insisted on playing, I would just say it's about random characters. No point in dredging up a bunch of crap.
