What are some of the unique and special compliments that your spouse has said to you during your marriage? I thought of this thread topic because there is another one in the dating section about cool compliments which different BFs or GFs have given over the years..

So I wondered if husbands and wives remembered compliments given to each other. (Or course this assumes that you DO receive and give compliments.)

Now, there are some common ones..."You are handsome...blah blah blah." "Love your hair." "You have a beautiful body." Those certainly feel good and may be very true. But what I am thinking of are the ones that really were specialized and made you feel extra special or respected.

I am wondering what sticks out to you as special.

For instance, my wife said to me the other day after I fixed something that seemed somewhat unfixable, "I knew you would fix it. If anyone can figure out how to do something, it is you." Glad she had that opinion because I didn't when I started.

That was special. She showed respect for my abilities.

Another time earlier this year, she was telling someone on the phone how I lost 40#. "When he sets his mind to something, he has the discipline to follow through with it and stick with it. I wish I could do what he does." Hearing the pride, respect and love in her voice really touched me.

Okay, so I bragged a bit. :o

Your turn.... :D

That I smell really good and my heart is huge, that I give a lot and am a good loyal friend to many and don't expect anything back.

Actually he also said it's a positive but also a negative thing as some tend to take advantage since they know I have a hard time saying no.

It's okay for you to brag, Jamesie. You're a good man. :)

My husband loves to tell me how he feels lucky that I am his wife.

Even though I know you only from your words here, I can say how this would apply to you. I can tell that you do have a huge heart and are giving. :)

Not the smelling good comment...can't really tell that here on LS!

One New Years we pulled up to our house, which was a half a house that we rented, and it was still decorated for Christmas and was lit up.

He was tipsy and said "this is the homiest house I ever lived in".

I had an interview the other day and I came downstairs in my pant suit with my hair all done and make up on. He looked at me and said I looked like one of those hot female coworkers that all the guys hit on around the water cooler. That was pretty special.

When H told me 'I love your mind, the way you think'.
As expressed in the other thread. It proved that he wasn't solely focused on the superficial.

"You are the most masculine man I have known"

it is way too long to explain, but understand that I personally have needed to hear this for years in our marriage. Not only for my own selfish validation needs, but for her to have resolved the false examples of men/husbands/fathers from her past life that she clung to.

We were spooning in bed one night and he was rubbing my arms and hips and murmured in my ear "I love touching you all over".

It was sexy and loving at the same time.

She actually told me about a week ago about a compliment I gave to her a while ago' to her was one of the best she ever got, and I was just being 100% honest and reactionary at the time.

I told her I've never met anybody who can JUST DO like she can. She quit smoking AND lost 30 lbs. She was 5'10 160 now she's 5'10 130. So she REALLY didn't even NEED the weight loss. But she said with us getting married and wanting to try to start a family, she wanted to quit smoking and get healthy.

MOST people have life long struggles to do EITHER and she did both at the same time like it was nothing. Lol. That was over a year ago, and she has NEVER smoked again AND kept her weight at 130. Amazing.

For me, it actually came during an argument. Lol. She was mad I didn't go the cell phone store with her like she asked because she was having problems with her phone. I had work to do and told her that between she and the technician, how was I needed? I don't know anything about cell phones. Well, after she got back, got upset that the "solution" they came up with didn't work, I got involved. The problem was QUICKLY resolves...and she was like "Do you see, THIS is why I wanted you to go with me! You can solve any problem and yet, noooooooo, you had to work on that file instead."

First world problems, right? Lol. But afterwards, I thought, Wow, what a nice compliment.

It is good to see you again! :) How are you and your hubby and the baby? And your health?

I remember you had quite a start to your marriage.

It is good to hear from you again.

Sorry to slightly derail my own thread. :D

Anyhow, after looking back at your marriage thread and all that happened, you have quite a winner of a husband. And if he hands out that kind of compliment, then I would agree that you two are a great match. :)

I wrote this in a similar thread, but the best compliment my husband has ever given me is that I have a beautiful and kind heart. Actions are great compliments to me too, and I love how he is always giving me fully body hugs...to me, his hugs are compliments, cause I'm the only person he full body hugs!!!

When I asked him what is the best compliment I have given him, he says that it's my telling him that I am so thankful to God for him, and he loves it when I stare at him with lovey-dovey eyes... :D that "la mirada" the look is in itself a great compliment to him.

he told me that the guys at work want to know how he was able to get such a "great looking young wife"...

Funny thing is, I'm older than he is by about 6 months:laugh:

he also points out when guys look at me with appreciation...especially at this beach...this may sound really odd, but he knows I'm very self conscious about how I look ( posture, etc. because of my back) and I try and hide from people when I can , as i don't like them seeing it...he tries to make me feel better...I appreciate that, but as long as he likes me, I'm happy and don't acre if they look or not)

JamesM,

Sorry I'm just now seeing this! Thanks for asking after us. :)

We are all doing great - our boy is almost 11 months old, growing like a weed, sporting two teeth, babbling like crazy, and about to walk. We're having a blast with him - my favorite time of day is dinner / bath / bedtime when we're all home together.

My health is good! I'm actually due for a check-up in early June. My surgeon has thrown around the term "cured" a few times so I'm not terribly worried about them finding any rogue cancer cells hanging around. The experience definitely brought us closer together -- we're more grateful than ever to have each other.
