I've done the basics - blocked on Facebook, I have an app that won't allow me to see a webpage with her name on, her emails go into the bin in gmail, and I've blocked myself from looking at my bin - there's only one last thing.

How do I stop myself sending emails. Does anyone know an app that works with gmail that will stop me sending an email to a certain address, or at least will ask me "am I sure". There used to be Mail Goggles. Anyone know of anything similar?

Maybe this thread could be used to share these technical NC tips

Well if her response ends up in a bin that you can't access - what is the point in e-mailing her? Perhaps think of it like that, and you won't need to e-mail because you already know that you won't be able to see the response?

Yes.

it's called 'a finger', and you merely hit the 'discard' option with it.

Works every time.

Not every bit of technology has a suitable 'anti-app'.

Sometimes, we have to use a little thing we develop, called 'will-power'.

Even Bill Gates has will-power.....

true, but the temptation might be to think as she can't contact me, I can write to her knowing I won't see her reply - probably self-control is the way to go, just to be nice to find something technical that might help

I've wished for an app like this many times.

Here's something that's worked for me:

Go into Contacts, and change the way your ex's name is written there to something like: "DON'T EMAIL THIS B*TCH" or some other sharp phrasing of your choice.

That means if you try to send her an email, you'll see that phrase show up as a reminder for yourself. But also, if you DID send, she would see her name written as such in your message.

Of course it's not irreversible, but it creates that moment of pause that you really need.

Even with such app you'd still email your ex if you are determined to.

Save your emails as drafts and read them maybe a week or two later when you feel better about yourself. I can assure you that you won't be able to thank god enough for not sending them. You'll know then how stupid/immature you actually are during your moments of weakness.
