So I have known this guy since elementary school, and I may have even had a crush on him way back then!! Through the years he has gotten married, had a child, and became a regular customer of mine at work. I adored he and his wife. Well of course, they split after a few years of marriage. He and his daughter would continue to come and visit me at work. (I wait tables)

Fast forward, recently he asked me if I would like to go to a hockey game with him. (known him and his family forever!) I said yes not even thinking that this was an attempt to be romantic towards me!!! Well he picked me up, brought me flowers, dinner... and was talking about future plans. :( I rushed out of the "date" to get home and felt very awkward.

He was showing his daughter pictures of us at the game and then came to where I work acting all nervous. I tried to act normal because I have known him forever, but when he left he text me and asked if I would like to have dinner with him and his daughter.

I am NOT a shallow person, but I am just not into him like that! I love him as a person and someone I have known my whole life but romantically- NO NO NO. I feel heartbroken and I don't know how to let him know I am not interested like that. I am always the one getting hurt, I don't know what to say to convey that I am just not interested. Advice????

You're going to have to let him know that either you're not interested in being with anyone, or you're not interested in being with him. You could be straight about it, or drop the friend card with gusto and hope he takes the hint.
