I think this is over the top.

 

ABout a month or two ago, I saw a story of an unusually candid cover letter that went viral - now I liked that one. I liked the candor and he said things that we've all probably wanted to say but been too afraid about the consequences. It was honest and to the point - something we can all admire. But remaking the CV as a candy bar wrapper is not something I'd recommend generally.

Yes, I'm sure it was this that landed him the job, not that he was recruited by someone he use to work with.
