SunsetRed Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Ive posted about this show before. I LOVE this show so much and the story line btwn the heroine and her MM is helping to knock some sense into my head. The female lead character was advising someone who was caught in an affair and was reminding this person what an empty life of lies they'd be leading if they continued their affair. She mentioned the anniversaries, family life, children, going out in public etc, all the things the married couple experiences while the affair partner believes the lie that they and the Married affair partner actually have something. I don't see my MM anymore, but I need the occasional slap in the face to remind me not to see him, esp during the month of Feb when I'm lonely due to Valentines Day and my Bday. Scandal is helping me to remember to be strong and not to fall into the trap of being a second best girl on the side. 2
wisernow Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Olivia Pope: " End it now, because stolen moments is not a life!" True that. 7
BrokenPrincess Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 That was a great speech. Made me think about my stolen moments too and how they were nothing compared to xMMs 20years of marriage. 4

GreyhoundtoNowhere Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 i just posted this in the other thread....but I was watching, too. And wrote it down because it of course hit so close to home and something i need to re-read.. "You have nothing. You have a pile of secrets and lies and you're calling it love. And in the mean time, you're letting your whole life pass you by, while they raise children, and celebrate anniversaries, and grow old together. You're frozen in time, you're holding your breath. You're a statue waiting for something thats never going to happen. Living for stolen moments in hotel hallways and coat closets. You keep telling yourself they all add up to something real because in your mind they have to. But, they don't. They won't. They never will. Because stolen moments aren't a life. So you have nothing." 4

Even though for the sake of the show, I'd love to see Olivia end up w her MM, I still appreciate that they didn't glamourize what its like to be a mistress. What happened to Liv is what usually happens, getting kicked to the curb for the wife that he claimed he had a "dead" relationship with. After the cold way he treated her the last time they were together, she could never take him back and respect herself.
Summer Breeze Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 And with all of those words the reason she's doing it is to arrange a M so someone will be elected to a political office. It's actually an interesting show watching all the dynamics of all sides of the A. It's over the top but still interesting. People settling for what they have. People wanting what they'll never get. Resentments. Hurts.

She didn't trust him to get to office on his merits and he looked at that as a tremendous betrayal. Before that he'd asked for a divorce and was going to leave. As I said in another post. A whole lot over the top and some really good parts and words in it if you've been involved in an A.
