Just curious. By long term I mean, I dunno, anything over 6 months (even though I know that's not very long term)

No. But it really depends on the circumstance. If you're both tested and you know how to pull out, there isn't much of an issue going bareback. Unless it helps you last longer, which is something to consider.

My exW and I used condoms (BC gave her issues) until we got married, so about 18 months. I'd still do the same until I get snipped and, in any event, for a goodly period of time (months) until I was confident we were both monogamous and clear of STD's. Most people my age have been through or are going through casual/unprotected sex so, from a health standpoint, I prefer to be careful. I've got enough friends dropping dead from health issues; don't need to volunteer for any.

Went through my 14 month relationship using condoms every time. She was also on the pill, and I pulled out. Neither of us wanted kids at our age. A little bit less sensation and a few extra seconds is worth not having a kid.

Yeah I was referring to doing it moreso to prevent having kids. I was with a girl for 4 years and we used to pull out method every time, and thankfully nothing happened. New girl seems to big on the condom thing and it feels... weird (not the condom, but just the insistence on using it... and yes, we're both clean and faithful and whatnot).

That's pretty funny that you used condoms, birth control and the pullout method though hahahah.

Yes, I did. One part of it was that my ex had PE issues and the only way he could last more than a minute was with a condom. He only lasted around 3-4 mins with a condom though :(

Condoms, IUD/BC, pull out, diaphragm. Always use at least 1, and prefer to use 2. My last partner and I didn't use barriers because between the two of us, we were allergic to latex, polyurethane, vinyl, nitrile, and saran wrap. Babies are terrifying when you're still in college.

Might be too personal, but did he ever consider numbing creams? That's really awful : \.

Pulling out isn't going to be 100% effective in preventing pregnancies. Pre-cum can be just as potent.

And yet I'm not pregnant yet.

Indeed true, it does happen, just not very often. Perhaps I've just been stupidly lucky. Could have something to do with pot, supposedly it makes you less potent(have medical card). Quit a couple months ago and haven't banged since then so don't have particularly reputable information on sober potency.

Yeah, pretty sure it's this.

The pull out method is not a method.

My friend and his wife have been going at it for almost a year without any protection or pulling out and nothing to show for it. I wonder how soon before they should go to the Doctors.

That's a stupid amount of luck then. Maybe It's time to go hit the slots.

There's an old myth that woman can only get pregnant in a small span of time during any given month. Egg production has a limited time frame. Never had the guts to try out the theory, but the story you spoke of is pretty common. From what I've heard It's almost trickier to get pregnant then not with some women.

I heard that it is right after her time of the month is over is when the highest risk of pregnancy is possible. Don't quote me on that though.

They both like to drink a lot and when we were younger he smoked A LOT of weed and did plenty of other stuff too. Not sure if any of that contributes.

Yeah. Either that or, start practicing safe sex.

That's what I've heard as well. From quite a few people.

It's possible I suppose, there was an old study that showed seeds lowering sperm counts, not sure who smokes seeds, but that's really the only study I've read on it. If it were significant I wouldn't be on this earth though so I never took it all that seriously.

No, he claimed he didn't have a problem

Thank god not my problem anymore.

I'm not sure how practice is involved, but good advice nonetheless. :p

This thread scares me.

When a woman is about to ovulate it is the easiest time for her to get pregnant, which isn't right after ones period.

when the lining of the uterus has built up again is the easiest time, which is roughly 14 days into the menstrual cycle. Typically although it differs... it is about 8 to 10 days after a woman's period ends, this being based on a woman who has a fairly regular cycle.

Pull out is NOT A FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL. That is like saying you use family planning as birth control... extremely risky.

I have a Mirena as birth control and we have both been tested and we STILL use condoms.

Unless you are ready to be a parent, be smart.

It really does worry me that some people on here can know so little about the female reproductive system and safe birth control methods.

Logically however there is no such thing as 100% safe sex.

Well.. Maybe. A 100% clean individual with their tubes tied. Still run the risk of UTIs though.

No... but the condoms paired with MY birth control... we are pretty dang solid.

The mirena is over 99% effective.
