A former girlfriend of 6 years recently re-entered my life after being gone for 12 years. We dated and broke up not because either one cheated or anything like that but just because we were younger and at different points in our lives. The breakup was sudden and she was the one who ended it. She then completely cut me out of her life. There never seemed to be closure and I was heartbroken. Anyway, the next guy she dated she ended up marrying. They were married for 9 years. She moved out 6 months ago and they have filed for divorce.

My concern is this: When she re-entered my life the emails and messages were non stop and multiple times a day. I now live in another state but was home for the holidays and we eventually reunited in person. It was incredibly emotional for both of us. We stood and hugged, cried and looked at one another for 20 minutes at least before settling on the couch. During my time "home" we were intimate with one another and I felt like perhaps I had my "lost love" back. The emails and messages continued once I returned to my state of residence. However, they have slowly tapered off and I have not spoken to her on the phone in nearly 3 weeks. She has told me that I have done nothing wrong and that she is just extremely emotional and sad and wants to be alone.

Her husband rescinded the divorce filing a month before it was to be final, forcing her to be the one to file. I can't help but to feel "cut off" again just like I did when we broke up 12 years ago. Can any of you give me some insight into what she may be feeling or going through. I have never been married so I can not relate. Thank you.

It sounds like she used you for attention in a moment of vulnerability.

I think you know what happened. Think about it yourself. Cut you off dead, nothing then all of a sudden she's getting divorced and she's flooding you with emails, then you get together and it stops again?

You're a smart guy thinking with your heart. Read what you wrote and think with your head.

She's rebounding. The human mind is an amazing thing! And one of the things that the human mind does is to (with time and over time) 'fade' out hurtfull, painfull, memories.

And your left with nothing but the 'good' memories. That is until it comes along one beautiful spring day, when the sun is shinning just right, your out rubbing some sunshine on your face. Your feeling glad, happy. All is right with the world! The bluebirds are singing ~ and then BAM!

Your in the first liqour store you can find telling the store clerk behind the counter, "Just give me two half gallons of anything you got! I don't give a damn! You through money at him and tell him or her ~ "Just keep the change!!

There's a reason they call breaking up ~ breaking up!

There's a reason they call your 'X' your 'X"

Your best bet is to just 'keep on trucking'

Quit being so damned selfish, and give another deserving gal a chance!
