snilljente Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I am curious to know where the Love Shack readers have met significant others...This might sounds like a weird question, but everyone tells me that I am really attractive (really not meant as conceited) and that I have alot to offer (i.e. education/own house), etc.....yet, I feel like I am not meeting enough men...I work in a field which greatly limits my ability to meet men during my work day...I have met men at the gym, out at clubs, online, but none have been "great catches"...I am really interested in knowing where every body meets their SOs in hopes that this might give me some new ideas of where to meet quality people.....I am tired of the bar scene and want someone with character....and morals....It has been suggested that I may "intimidate" men..but I don't know how to handle this...I feel like time is passing me by and in the meantime, I could be meeting someone special but I just don't know if I am going about it correctly...SUGGESTIONS?!

Papillon Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 The internet? I thought that sort of thing only happens in the movies and in "People Magazine".... My own experiences would have to be at school or at work.
DerangedAngel Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I thought that sort of thing only happens in the movies and in "People Magazine".... Nah. I've never joined an online dating service, though. I just happened to meet them in chat rooms. We became friends, decided we had a mutual romantic interest later, then met in person. Both were long term relationships. -DA
CurlyIam Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Through friends at a party... Through collegues at a party Through friends at a party... It just happened this way.

Personally, I'm too s***scared to contemplate something like that. I call it my own little lucky packet syndrome - the anticipation of the toy you're gonna get in the lucky packet most probably outweighs the toy itself... I guess I'm just making excuses
DerangedAngel Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 the anticipation of the toy you're gonna get in the lucky packet most probably outweighs the toy itself... Hm. Yes. 'Most probably'. I guess I'm just making excuses Maybe, maybe not. You never really know what's going to happen when you decide to meet someone like that. Looking back, I can't believe I did it when I was younger. My friends thought I was really desperate. But I'm still glad I went through with it. -DA
Papillon Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 And what about now? Would you still do something like that?
moimeme Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 club, university event, club, internet, club
puppybear Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Are there any extracurricular activities you like participating in? I met a lot of people (friends and potential partners) through volleyball (classes), softball (games), skiing/snowboarding (online), mountain biking (club)... Even if you don't meet anyone you're interested in directly through these activities, you can always find friends who might introduce you to others you might be interested in. And, sometimes these friends can host parties where you can meet many available singles.
DerangedAngel Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 And what about now? Would you still do something like that? Sure. If I was as interested as before. -DA
Author snilljente Posted September 1, 2004 Author Posted September 1, 2004 Thanks for the input guys...New picture Kevin?! Anyways, I am out of school and work is not a great place..I have met guys at clubs, the gym, etc...but, no offense guys, they seem to only be out for one thing..I want a meaningful, long term relationship...A family man.....
Touch_of_Naughtiness Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 1. school 2. family friend since we were in diapers
Author snilljente Posted September 1, 2004 Author Posted September 1, 2004 Apparently, I need to find some reason to go back to school! he he : ) Anyways, I need to add that I am pretty picky..I like BIG men...i.e. tall, very muscular....so I guess maybe I am too picky?! If I see a cute guy at the gym, my friends say "let him come up to you", but guys, do you want us to come up to you? Does that come across as too aggressive/desperate...I don't want to seem that way, but then again, I don't want to miss out on meeting someone special because we were both too shy....
UCFKevin Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 YES, we want you to come up to us. NO it doesn't seem desperate at all.
Author snilljente Posted September 1, 2004 Author Posted September 1, 2004 Really?! I would be interested in having other guys opinions' on this!! We girls ALWAYS hear that we should NOT make the first move.....I'M SO CONFUSED!!

johan Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Escort services. 976 lines. Holes in bathroom stall walls. Prison. Some I met formally when I rolled over in the morning. A couple I "met" in my garage by the air compressor after I inflated them. College. Current girlfriend: we were set up by friends. I don't mind talking about it here, but I try to avoid discussing my old relationships with her.
