I saw this article on msnbc about the museum of Broken Relationships, in Zagreb and thought this would make a fantastic new thread:

Legacies of love showcased at the Museum of Broken Relationships - Itineraries on NBCNews.com

my favorite story was about the guy who donated an ax - he had used it to chop off all of his ex furniture for 14 days... then went away for a two-weeks holiday.

how about you, what would you donate to the museum of Broken Relationships? why?

In that case, I'd make a life-size effigy of her out of all the hair / toenail clippings /sloughed off dry skin, chipped crockery, threadbare towels, dirt and rubbish she left behind.

My No Contact thread, of course - but then, that might just bring a halt to all and any further donations....... :D

I would give away the collier of fake blue orchids that he was wearing the night when we've started to go out together. They were matching his shirt and jeans. We had such a great time, our friends mingled, I was terribly drunk, we made out in public... great evening. That stuff stayed at my place that evening. I ended up throwing it away, but I think there's a funny parallel here: those flowers looked fresh and exotic, but they were artificial. Our thing looked great too, so much passion and chemistry... too bad that getting that passion and chemistry was based on some really simple and effective maneuvers ... fake as hell, in the light of the morning. oh well... at least it was lots of fun while it lasted.

Well, if a relationship ended, it doesn't mean it was all wrong or not beautiful. People in that relationship believed in it. It meant something, to them, at some moment, in their life.

That's why I sort of like the idea of symbols - it shows what stayed with them, or what reminded those two of their past relationship. If love turned sour, it doesn't mean that there was no love at all :).
