So, my ex and I broke up 6 months ago. Since then I haven't been a social butterfly exactly and I'm wondering, how does one start to meet new people? I'm a shy girl, always have been, I met my ex in a high school biology class where he was my partner in class. I'm otherwise awkward around guys, etc.

I want to start meeting people, going out, having a social life, you know?

I have a few close friends, but they are all away at college, one is Connecticut, we skype and talk a lot, and my other friend is about 4 or so hours away, I see her when I can. I do have coworkers and such, but hte coworkers at my one job are all 21+ and go out and drink all the time, I've gone with them, but I'm only 19, I played sober cab, at my new job my coworkers are all older than me and married and the like.

So, my question is, where do I meet people? I can't do the bar scene, I'm shy, I'm awkward, what do I do?!

Don't know. I'm curious as well, anybody? I feel like your male counter part. :lmao: They should have official places to go specifically for us awkward, reserved folk.

Join some classes. That's what I'm doing this year. If you live in a city, there are classes for anything: sports, yoga, cooking, dancing, foreign languages, crafts,...whatever interests you. It's a social activity and you'll learn something new!
