So are coworker relationships as bad as they say?

Sorry I have a bad tendency to make things unclear, when I was "pretending to be mad at him" I mean it was obvious I was kidding he knew I was messing with him. I couldn't keep a straight face (I was stiffling laughter and trying to FAILINGLY hold back a smile) the entire time. Our work environment is extremely relaxed, as long as we get everything done we mess with eachother all the time. Everyone picks at each other and he's a very comical guy. He always starts it and encourages us to be playful. As for the whole rejection bit, I handle rejection fine, I'm not head over heels, I mean sure he's amazing but I never put much stock in the whole "maybe if I love him hard enough he'll love me back" bit that girls seem to be going through now adays. As for gossip... There's not much there. This isn't an office, and we're all pretty good friends plus minus two other very happy-to-be-single guys everyone else has a significant other and really wouldn't care too much. And from what I understand he's dated a coworker before but I don't too much about it other than it was a long time ago and that she was from what others have told me not a very good person. I appreciate all these opinions and experienced answers and I know that it varies per situation but I'm still totally confused as to how to approach my specific situation. :/
