I am 5 months BU and 1.5 months NC....I started to feel better and especially right now...I met someone randomly and now they are texting me...we have been texting for like 3 hours back and forth..and I am not even thinking about my ex right now as much. Even though I am not ready for a full blown relationship, its good to know that someone likes me and is interested...

This person even invited me over tomorrow to watch movies...its too soon for that so I won't!

PEOPLE THERE IS HOPE.

I feel better now and hoping its not a temporary feeling. Even if it is...ill take it. **ck it!!

Good for you, destroyed! Definitely enjoy the good moments. Soak them up for all that they are. I actually think that when you REALLY do your best to enjoy the happier times, you train your brain to only try to experience that and eventually to steer away from thoughts of your ex that leave you depressed and upset.

I agree with that. Eventually your brain just gets so tired of feeling flat and sad and negative all the time that it kind of steers your thoughts away from the things that make you feel bad, and also even when you do think those things, you slowly start to not feel quite as bad as you used to.

In terms of this new person texting you, goodo! Never put pressure on yourself to do or feel anything...when you're ready, it'll just happen naturally. But it's good you've got a bit of a rapport with this person.

Also, this happier state of mind may not be entirely temporary. Don't expect to ALWAYS be happy and feeling on top of things, but also don't necessarily expect to definitely go back to feeling crap as well, ok?

Stevie makes a valid point.

Even when we're at our best, whether it's in a relationship or outside of one, emotions always rise and fall. It's rare to meet a person who is always happy.

Hell, sometimes I get sad about poor choices I made ten years ago in a relationship. Doesn't mean I'm not over said relationship.
