PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Yes SF, I recently asked a guy what he does for a living and he called me a gold digger Why was his occupation so important?
Lonely Ronin Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Why was his occupation so important? Because it says a lot about who you are as a person.
SJC2008 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 That is EXTREMELY rare! Yes it is and I must admit I was excited! Unfortuanately it has to be used as an example of you just don't know which is why it may be worthwhile messaging women with lacking profiles. We're not writers afterall so we should give the benefit of the doubt.
PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I found this funny. I actually wrote a a pregnant girl once and asked her WTF she was doing. I couldn't believe it. Any wooo Just write who ever you want - don't put much thought into it, it is only dating. POF is a mess but the guys are hotter. I haven't OLD in NYC for 3 years so I can't really say anything about that. However I will say NY(not NYC) is one of the worst places to find dates. I refuse to date anyone in this damn state anymore. I will date when I move. What's wrong with NYC in regards to dating?
SmileFace Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 What's wrong with NYC in regards to dating? I said not NYC. NYC is fine. NY, anything outside of NYC is ****.
PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Because it says a lot about who you are as a person. Not in this new economy it doesn't. You didn't know people are taking jobs they can get right now to surivive?? 1
Eternal Sunshine Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 My problem with OKC is that when I find a half interesting profile, I always read all their question-answers. Even if there is 1000 of them. And I always find a deal breaker which turns me off.
Lonely Ronin Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Not in this new economy it doesn't. You didn't know people are taking jobs they can get right now to surivive?? I know that, but there is a difference between working as a garbage man, a bank teller, a reporter, an office worker etc.
Author kaylan Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 So you think dating is more important than MOVING? ???? I think living comfortably, establishing a career, and helping my local family is more important than moving away for vagina.
Author kaylan Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 My problem with OKC is that when I find a half interesting profile, I always read all their question-answers. Even if there is 1000 of them. And I always find a deal breaker which turns me off. Ive done the same thing. I do that WAY too much. But its better to find out now than later.
PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I know that, but there is a difference between working as a garbage man, a bank teller, a reporter, an office worker etc. It shouldnt matter what he was doing as long as he is working 1
PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 ???? I think living comfortably, establishing a career, and helping my local family is more important than moving away for vagina. I was under the impression you were living with your parents and was trying to save moving money
Lonely Ronin Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Yeah.. if you're a shallow status-nazi. All that matters is an honest living. That's BS and anyone with half a brain knows it. You can tell or atleast get a feel for a crap ton of stuff about someone based on what they do for a living. How smart they are, how driven they are, how out going they are, what they are passionate about, etc. 1
PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Yeah.. if you're a shallow status-nazi. All that matters is an honest living. She probably thinks she deserves a guy with a 6 figure salary because she was born with a vagina 1
PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 That's BS and anyone with half a brain knows it. You can tell or atleast get a feel for a crap ton of stuff about someone based on what they do for a living. How smart they are, how driven they are, how out going they are, what they are passionate about, etc. And I said not in this economy with people getting laid off and trying to find work. I'm a job counselor who helps people find employment. What does that tell u about my personality? 1
Author kaylan Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 I was under the impression you were living with your parents and was trying to save moving money Actually I got my first post college job 3 months ago and will have enough saved to move in a few months. Why on earth would I move to an entirely different geographic location JUST to date? Im gonna be working up here, and property value is cheaper up here. If I happen to meet a great city girl when I spend my time down in NYC, and things feel right, then I will consider changing jobs and moving. But Im not going to do all of that just for the option to date around.
Lonely Ronin Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 And I said not in this economy with people getting laid off and trying to find work. I'm a job counselor who helps people find employment. What does that tell u about my personality? The first thing that comes to mind, is that your better than average when it comes to dealing with people. I for example could not do your job, I don't like dealing with random people. I strait up refused to work the register or drive through when i did fast food work early in college.

You can tell or atleast get a feel for a crap ton of stuff about someone based on what they do for a living. How smart they are, how driven they are, how out going they are, what they are passionate about, etc. That means nothing until you get the opportunity. That means answering questions in a way that pleases the hiring manager. Women has the advantage in that category esp. if said hiring manager happens to be a male. 1
CptSaveAho Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Selective guys do not date girls from the internet... Common sense dictates that they aren't the norm if they cant interact in public venue to where a guy would walk up and talk to them Says a lot about the guys that meet and date these girls online too 1
PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I woman made this statement in her profile and I want to know what it means "I Want a guy who knows what he wants and knows how to get it"
Lonely Ronin Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I woman made this statement in her profile and I want to know what it means "I Want a guy who knows what he wants and knows how to get it" See my previous post about someone who is driven.
Author kaylan Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) Guys stop derailing my thread with this job nonsense before I have to report for moderation. Thanks. Id rather it not turn into pages of arguing about driven people and ambition. Selective guys do not date girls from the internet... Common sense dictates that they aren't the norm if they cant interact in public venue to where a guy would walk up and talk to them Says a lot about the guys that meet and date these girls online too How old are you? Are you out of college yet? Do you realize that people who work full time, and arent in big cities, dont have many options to meet people outside of the club/bar scene. In which case many people have taken to online dating to diversify the people they meet. Edited February 10, 2013 by kaylan
SJC2008 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Selective guys do not date girls from the internet... Common sense dictates that they aren't the norm if they cant interact in public venue to where a guy would walk up and talk to them Says a lot about the guys that meet and date these girls online too I've asked women out IRl and decied to try OLD a couple years ago. Anwy, IME most women who do OLD, depending on the site are 1) Aren't over their ex and "can't be alone" 2) Have unrealisticly high expectations 3) Are there for casual sex but are "discrete" about it. Numbers 1&2 are the most common IMO.
SJC2008 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Guys stop derailing my thread with this job nonsense . IMO my first and last post in this thread should be all you know about OLD. Other than that if you really want to up your odds sign up for eharmony. From what I've heard it's the best out of all of them.
PhillyDude Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 For me to leave any female a message online she has to 1. be smiling in her pics 2. Her essay has to come off as open and honest Not some fake profile saying I love going to party in Manhattan every friday with my girls, lol
