CluelessJack Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) I've been lurking around this site for a while and finally decided to join today as I need some advice on my recent situation. I work as a chef of what I would call an "upscale" burger place. A few months ago, the owner's daughter started working part time as a waitress. She's a very hard worker and she's also very cute and reminds me of a former girlfriend of mine. In any case, we get along pretty well at work. We talk all the time and seem to connect on many topics. I was really hoping to find a good excuse to see her outside of work but because she is the owner's daughter I never found the courage to do so. I also later found out through our discussions that she has a boyfriend so I decided to move on. Last month, out of the blue she sends me a text message asking whether I could help her out with her homework. She had to write a paper about healthy eating and wanted to interview me over coffee or dinner. Now, that's the kind of invitation I would've gotten very excited about had she not had a BF. Meanwhile, because she is the owner's boss I couldn't refuse. So we went for coffee (my call). She asked me a bunch of trivial questions on healthy eating and took notes on her laptop. At the end of our meeting she said she will have more questions for me and perhaps next time we could meet over drinks rather than coffee. Before I found out she had a boyfriend, this is the invitation I was dreaming about. Now I don't really know how to feel about it. Edited February 9, 2013 by CluelessJack
CarrieT Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 . Before I found out she had a boyfriend, this is the invitation I was dreaming about. Now I don't really know how to feel about it. Full stop. She is taken. Tell her you appreciate the invitation for drinks but it would be inappropriate. Leave it at that.
