I'm supposed to have a first date tonight with a guy. 2 days ago I reached out to him saying "we should hang out sometime. I'm free wednesday and thursday." So he said "Great let's plan for thursday."

It is now thursday at 2pm.

Should I reach out to him to see if we're still on or should I wait on him?

IMO, I think it might be time for HIM to reach out. Afterall, I'm the one who contacted him saying "we should hang out". Don't you agree?

I'd like to know what you guys think.

Did you guys work out a time frame? Anyway, needless to say, doesn't look like you guys are on.

When he said "let's plan for Thursday", did you respond?

He initially wanted to get together on wednesday at 10:30pm but I told him that was too late for me...so we decided on thursday. But no, we didn't discuss a specific timeframe for tonight.

I said "Ok great" in response to that.

If I asked a woman out and said let's do thursday and left it at that, I would expect the burden would be on me to followup with a time, not her.

If you assume the burden of asking someone out it seems like the burden to finalize plans shouldn't just shift to the other person automatically.

He was probably waiting for you to followup and finish the job you started. Just get a hold of him and see what's up, not one good reason you can't.

If the chat stopped there, I would expect you to keep it going and then I'd set a definite time with you.

You asked him out, so you should have planned the date and finalized location/time. If you want to guy to do the planning, you wait for him to ask you out. Otherwise, you volunteer yourself to do the heavy lifting. If you want to see him, call him and see if he's still free.

I got dinner plans with a lady in about an hour. I haven't contacted her since we set a date/time/place a few days ago.

I never "confirm" that we're "still on" with any woman. If we set a date, time, and place, then I expect you to be there. If you cannot make it, tell me ahead of time.

I don't think you need to let him know that you guys are still "on." Just be there.

EDIT: Bah, I misundestood. I didn't realize you guys acutally didnt make definitive plans. I guess my point still stands in other situations, but in yours.... Not so much. Make plans! One of you has to!

Gee...I wonder what he's after

Seriously, drop the guy...he didn't even follow up to make any plans or set a time...he's not that interested.

And yes, he's supposed to reciprocate and take the initiative from there...is this not common sense?

What is wrong with you people! ::shakes LS::

She broke the ice and it was time for him to be a man and take the reigns. He's either a horrendous dater, not interested or was trying to set up some quick late night action IMO.

He told me that he had a basketball game beforehand which is probably why he suggested 10:30pm. But still, I agree with you. I did feel a little weird about him wanting to get together so late.

I simply don't have time for men who are only mildly interested.

He won't be hearing from me.

I think he doesn't know what plan means.

Exactly.

I'm trying to weed out these frogs early on so I can eventually find my prince

Yeah, this maybe date with you is definitely not a priority, only reason you'll hear from him re tonight is if he doesn't have anything better happening and starts getting that 'lonely' feeling. Don't contact him, give him a good solid ignore, at least two weeks.
