Do you believe giving a flower to a girl on the first date, or do you think it is too much? Wait until 3rd or 4th date?

I've had a guy give me a bouquet before on a first date, I thought it was weird. A single flower, however, IMO would be sweet.

Well unfortunately in this day and age you'd have a better chance bedding her on the first date than getting a positive reaction from a flower/flowers on a first date.

Why was it weird? Was there a furry animal in the flowers staring at you?

just one yellow rose will do no more no less.

Yellow roses are a sign of friendship, happiness, joy and promise. Yellow roses are often given to show happiness for loved ones who are returning from a long trip or leave of absence.

So you don't think giving a flower on a first date is a deal breaker?

There are women who will appreciate the guesture but more won't and will "weird" out so play the odds! She WON'T deal break you for not bringing flowers/a flower so there's your answer.

Lol, no. It was just awkward, for me, to be receiving a full bouquet on a first date. Then he took me to a movie. Terrible first date idea.

Exactly this.

I had this discussion at a party with a group of women before and 1/2 were for it and 1/2 thought it was cheesy and embarrasing. They actually agreed that the problem is even if you gave it to a woman that liked it, she would tell her friends who would say it was weird or cheesy and she might be influenced to agree or look back on it as something awkward.

Bringing a flower or flowers will not 'tilt' her in your favor or seal the deal so why bother?

I am embarrassed to say I did it when i was much younger a couple of times and the response each time was, "Uh, oh, ok. Uh, thanks they're nice". It's not a 1-800-Flowers commercial, they're not going to swoon and drop their pants over it.

Personally, I would suggest that you get her something other than a rose. Something unique and pretty. Asiatic lillies, for instance, are lovely and are very hardy. Even as a first date gesture, I think it's a nice one. My boyfriend brought me a bouquet of lillies on our second date. I was already pretty smitten, though. Even if it doesn't "tilt her in your favor", if you look at it as an act of kindness without expecting anything in return, I guarantee it will put a smile on her face (especially if it's currently wintertime in your part of the world!)
