stevie_23 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I have a few songs I just can’t listen to anymore… I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars – I don’t even know WHY this song gets to me, because it’s not relevant to my situation. Firstly, I am not a man. Secondly, I did nothing wrong and didn’t waste my chance in my relationship with my ex. And thirdly, even if I twist the song meaning around so it’s from my ex’s point of view, he didn’t waste his chance in our relationship either. We treated each other very well.Against All Odds by Phil Collins – this reminds me of my soul mate cat I had from age 3 until 19, when we had to put him to sleep as he had cancer. One of the absolute hardest times in my life. This song was on the radio a lot at that time and I couldn’t take listening to it, it made me so sad and overwhelmed. Now, it has taken on a new meaning because of my ex.I Won’t Let You Go – this makes me feel weird and like I can’t breathe momentarily because it was in my head constantly back last June when my ex left me for a month because he was really sick and felt we couldn’t be together anymore. I was determined not to let him go. This Woman’s Work by Kate Bush – I can’t even go NEAR this song! I’ve never been able to take it very much even though it’s beautiful and I love it. It is just too sad. The lines “Give me these moments back…” GOD, IT KILLS ME!Anyone else?
Toddbt12y1 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Hm I actually don't avoid any I like. Especially since she converted over to liking rap music LOL...tho I do loathe lil Wayne not a song but oh well.
Author stevie_23 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 I’ve never liked ©rap music! Lol My list of avoided songs is much longer than the ones I listed, but it’d take me all day (possibly all year) to type them all out. So I won’t. Lucky for everyone here. Lol.
iouaname Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Only the Horses. Last summer we did this ridiculous dance in his apartment to that song. It was amazing and the song always reminds me of him...
Toddbt12y1 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I don't mind reading a novel yay I found a soul mate in distaste for rap
Author stevie_23 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 Oh god yes! Rap is BLEGH! I don’t hate any music really. I am a BIG music-lover and make my own songs and sing and all that, but rap, techno, trance, etc? BOREDOM CITY, MAN! 1
na49 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I'll never be able to listen to Someone Like You by Adele ever again. My ex ALWAYS sang that song. Probably Adele in general will never sound good to me. Not a huge deal though, I was never a big fan of her music anyway, but I will avoid it whenever I can. I also try to avoid all of the relationship music that seems to have become more popular now that I'm not in a relationship.
Author stevie_23 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 We have the radio on all day here at work, and it’s just the top 40 stuff, and EVERY song has meaning to me now. It’s ridiculous. 1

Author stevie_23 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 I also feel I’ve become Taylor Swift. All the songs I write have been about my ex since early 2011. And since we broke up now the songs are not…quite so happy. Lol.
Author stevie_23 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 Marry me! Lets have lil rap hating babies! Jk...ill stop derailing tho. HAHA! Ok! Sure, why the hell not?!!?
Toddbt12y1 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 HAHA! Ok! Sure, why the hell not?!!? Sure. But we shall name them after numbers..OK that's all
Author stevie_23 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 Like Seven? Like on Seinfeld? Lol. Our first born daughter will be named “Seven”. And our first born son shall be named “Two.” Ok? Done.
destroyed4sho Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Funny you mentioned songs. I think sad songs about break ups makes me more depressed and stagnates the grieving process. Don't listen to those songs constantly. A song that helped me get to the angry stage was: Blue Foundation - Twilight....the music is a bit dark, if you don't like it read the lyrics.
meeji Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 We exchanged songs almost on a daily basis. The last song he sent to me was It keeps coming on the radio since its fairly new. One of the first songs he sent me was ....and the list goes on. I'm tempted to listen to many of these songs but I know it will just make me cry. Ugh. f***k him.
Author stevie_23 Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 Yes indeedy. We didn’t really have a song that was our’s. We both write songs so the whole time we were together it was our own songs we wrote about and for each other that would be now very strange to listen to.

Don't listen to those songs constantly. A song that helped me get to the angry stage was: Blue Foundation - Twilight....the music is a bit dark, if you don't like it read the lyrics. I am the queen of listening to depressing music! I feel like the songs understand and can relate to how I feel better than talking to another person. When I'm sad I love listening to sad songs until my heart is content. It actually cheers me up somehow. (as long as its not any of the songs we exchanged, of course) 1
destroyed4sho Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 **Sorry, correction Blue Foundation - *Eyes on Fire*....the music is a bit dark, if you don't like it read lyrics
Toddbt12y1 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Like Seven? Like on Seinfeld? Lol. Our first born daughter will be named “Seven”. And our first born son shall be named “Two.” Ok? Done. Yes...then he shall become a Raper named two-pac. Thus the circle is complete
meeji Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 **Sorry, correction Blue Foundation - *Eyes on Fire*....the music is a bit dark, if you don't like it read lyrics I like this song! I think I will add it to my collection. Thanks.
