There are two really amazing presents I have in mind for my girlfriend, but I am not sure which one to pick.

A quick background story - we're currently in a 2 year long distance relationship. It's going great so far and we're seeing each other once a month. Next time will be the week during Valentine's Day, so I really want Valentine's day to be completely perfect for my girlfriend.

I wrote her a really cute love letter and got her a pillow with a personalized photo and text, yet I want to get her a really beautiful present.

It's either gonna be a shoulder bag from Burberry or a necklace from Tiffany's. What do you think is more appropriate as a Valentine's day present / what would you rather have?

Two things:

-Don't answer with 'neither' / 'dont buy expensive presents' / etc.

-Yes, I love spoiling her ;-)

Def Tiffany's. It is a lot more personal, very sexy and way more romantic than a handbag. Girls usually buy handbags and shoes for themselves. I've always felt a pinch of jealousy over women who were being offered jewelry, I felt like they really were spoiled.

Plus when it comes to handbags, you can go so wrong... she may not like Burberry's, she may want a smaller or bigger accessory, different shape or cut...

Tiffany's, Chanel, Dior, one usually can't go wrong with these ones!

Definitely the necklace. Any girl's heart will melt if they are given a little blue box!!!

I have a hard time picking out bags for myself, I definitely wouldn't want someone picking one out for me. Especially the fact that I'd have to use it even if I hate the color/style/size.

Valentines day is jewelry. Bags are for birthdays.

When it comes to societal norms, jewelry would be more appropriate for Vday but it really depends on your girlfriend and what might wow her more.

Out of curiosity, why specifically Burberry or Tiffany's? Has your girlfriend expressed interest in either one of these designers?

Thanks a lot. I was leaning towards the necklace and apparently this is confirmed.

I know she loves Tiffany's from the look in her eyes when she gets jewelry from there. She does not explicitly love Burberry over any other brand, but I know her taste quite well and I am pretty convinced she would love this one.

In any event, you are right regarding a necklace being more appropriate for Valentine's day, thanks!

Nah, you're not going to get any 'neithers'. You've been together for 2 years, there's no harm in wanting to spoil her.

I'd go with the necklace for VDay.

My bad, think I expressed myself wrong in my original post. We've been dating for about a year right now, but due to work related reasons I had to move to Europe for two years :-)
