Felt 100% sure today that I was ready and able to let go, and guess what happened?

I had a conversation with ex over email yesterday, where I asked him again if he had left me for someone else. He denied it over and over again, and given the evidence I've seen and by what his friends told me, he is being 100% sincere.

 

So I did alot of thinking, real deep thinking last night and this morning, and finally realized that I wanted this BU as much as him. We both wanted different things in life, we had drifted and grown apart, and I had questioned a few times throughout the relationship if I really saw myself spending my life with him. Decided this morning I was 100% ready to let go, decided that I will never take him back if he ever tried (but I do want to remain friends) and there are plenty of other men out there that I will have no problem finding someone when I'm ready.

 

I have a point to all of this and here it is: Started packing up the apartment this morning, felt very excited about moving back home to save money for a bit, and am ready for the change. I get a knock on my door. It's my neighbor that lives upstairs who was friends with my ex and I (maybe more like an acquaintance). He basically came in and confessed that he has had a crush on me for the past 3 years! He told me that he never liked my ex, and that he wanted to take me out just as friends. I agreed, he's a nice guy, but I made it very clear that I am in no way emotionally ready for any kind of romantic relationship at this point, and he was very respectful. He wants to hang out, be friends, and see what happens in the future if anything.

 

I just found a bit of humor in the fact that the minute I decided to let go for good, I get another guy knocking down my door professing his love for me Life truly does go on, folks
