serial muse Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) That's just the point though. You have to draw the line somewhere. Every day in this world, some teenager blows another human beings brains out with a gun. How much responsibility should he be exempt from because he is 12, 15, or 17? Well, some time age most countries decided it was 18, and I have no problem with that. Just for the record, Kate Upton is only 20. If she asked me if I wanted to have sex, would I? Yes! Does that mean you'll break my kneecaps with a tire iron for that? Hm, I'm guessing this isn't directed at me, since I haven't said anything about violence one way or the other. My focus is on the original topic, which isn't this at all. I think postulating all of these hypotheticals and assuming the worst from them is a pointless exercise, frankly. How did we get from quietGuy wanting to date an 18-year-old because he assumes they're on the same intellectual level to debating whether a teenager should be tried as an adult for murder??? That's quite a threadjack. I'd rather focus on the individual's story, which has more of a chance of being meaningful. Edited February 10, 2013 by serial muse
Author quietGuy13 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 Damn right. I'm 37 I have a 17 year old daughter, I know just how immature and dependent she is. I know the milestones she must cross to TRULY be a self sufficient and intellectual adult. I also know how mentally healthy people my age have nothing in common with these teens. I understand how romantic involvement would HINDER the experience of the younger partner. I know older men/women lie and minimize because ultimately they want something young to sleep with, but I won't allow it for a minute. If a thirty year old man touches my daughter, broken legs are going to be the LEAST of his worries. Who said I'm touching them. We just talking and friendship.

It's about the responsibility of being an adult and living with the consequences of your actions. How is being an 18 year old and falling for a 36 year old d@uchbag who knocks her up and leaves her any different from her falling in with a bad crowd and becoming a meth or heroin addict. It's not. And if that is you, then you f@cked up and you have to deal with the consequences. There's all kinds of bad elements in this world. Adults have to deal with making the right choice every day.

mesmerized Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I don't think the majority of us care who you date, as long as it gets you off here or stops your whining, we're happy.
JuneJulySeptember Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 These adult douchebags know better, but they don't care. Why are you standing up for douchebags? I'm not standing up for anybody. 18 is adult age. You are responsible for your actions, period.
