ok, so I know I'm bound to say this as I'm heartbroken but Valentines day is a load of bs! You don't need to waste money on all that rubbish - treat yourself to something you actually want - it's just another day!

yup...this day is going to suck!!!! My friend and I was talking about this earlier. This time of year is always the worst. First it was Thanksgiving, then Xmas, New years and finally the dreaded Valentines day.

Well look on the bright side. We got through 3 out of 4...now just one more and we are good until the next round which is 9 months away!

If you don't have a date for Valentine's Day, then treat yourself to something nice that day, as the previous poster said. Be good to yourself. Buy yourself something nice--a box of candy, a new something, and go do something you really like to do that you don't need someone else for. Lots of single people out there who are not dating for Valentine's Day. You can spend the day treating yourself well.

It's been 6 years since my divorce. I've spent exactly 1 Valentines day with someone (and she wasn't all that special). It's not that I want to lavish grand gifts on her or anything it's just the idea of having someone freaking special when you look all around you that everyone else seems to have. Tired of spending these times alone. I'll probably end up doing nothing. Just hate the celebration of having someone when I don't. We need a "Hey your single and it's Fun" day....

Well I decided I am going to give a few cards to other ladies. Hopefully they are single and it will put a smile on their face. I don't care if they don't want to go out or anything like that... I'm doing it more for girls out there that might feel bad about VDay and I know giving them a card will put a smile on their face.

I gotta admit, I always made valentines day bad for my ex. I never did anything and I know it meant a lot to her. It crushed her that I treated it as any other day. I guess to her it meant a lot and I just didn't do much. I was also a bit harsh, because my parents didn't know about her and to be honest if I went out on vday well I'm sure my parents would've bugged me about who I went to see what went on etc.. So I used to avoid vday.

But this year now it's been about 7 months BU and I've decided maybe I AM lonely this year for valentines day. But I will at least put a smile on some other girls face. In fact there is one girl I like in my class, and I might give her a card too.

The sad part is 3 years ago around this week is when I started to feel lonely. I was doing amazing at school, I felt refreshed and very independent and things were going well. But I didn't have that special someone. So I went on a look and found my ex by accident. Totally did not expect her or anything to happen.

I guess I am back in the past now.. the same moment.. lonely except I am not as independent and healthy and doing as well as I was then. But it's the same feeling of being lonely for once. And I hate to say it, but it hurts more knowing if me and my ex has found a way to patch it up. I woulda made this vday special for her.

So I plan to make it special for others girls this year and maybe karma will give me some happiness back too.

Well see people are DOING that though.. saying let's have a singles party. In fact I've seen LOTS of singles events going on during valentines day for people, who don't have anyone else. But want to get out and do something.. so they go with friends or different events for singles.

Meh. Sure my ex who cheated was born on this Valentine day. But meh. So she gets hundreds of gifts and mounts hundreds of dicks. She does that every other day...no difference.

As of me. I am content.

Yep. Last year my ex did nothing. We were fighting and she went to work and nothig happened. I was surprised at that but I guess she had already left me.back then and i didnt even know about it!! Things do change pretty fast....it seems fast when your partner is already fallen out of love with you but using you to buffer a painful grieving process. Then when they are ready...they coldly dump.you and leave you holding the bag of **** they pooped in.....sorry...just a rambling...anyway hate valentines day...its best to get away for that week. I think im going skiing.

I'm almost tempted to order flowers for myself on VDay. :p

I think I'll do something special for myself--cook some shrimp or lobster for dinner, open a nice bottle of wine, and just be thankful that I don't have to put up with with crap from him any more.

My new puppy's training class starts on valentines day.

Looks like I have my date sorted. :)

This is the first Valentine's Day that i'll be single in so many years, and I'm THRILLED.

I'm so glad I don't have to feel the stress of being with someone who felt obligated to do the Hallmark crap for me.

I want someone who's going to be amazing all the time, not just on a fake holiday.

Yep - word up! And for me, my birthday and my ex's birthday were also in the mix...with V Day as the big bookend! Sheesh!

I'm actually quite proud of myself for not only getting through this seemingly rough time of the calendar year (for newly broken-up with's), but also for growing and becoming stronger and more confident.

It can only get easier, right??

It depends haha.. there is going to be bdays I know my bday and I'm sure other things will pop up. Then summer will be tough, because that's going to be 1 yr of the BU.

Though it will be good progress to see how far I've gotten in 1 yr.
