taiko Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 In football line men are just big lugs. Star players are not tackles or line men Star players are the ones playing the ball Running backs , quaterbacks , center , tight end ,fullback ,tailback Those are the guys that get paid well they are leaner in shape they handle the ball catch run and throw positions. The bigline men are the meatheads. They have higher body Fat and dont have the "athletic look" that the conditioned players do. This manti teo guy at 6"2 255 is rather small. he might Not even make NFL . NFL line men are big some 6"4 300lb+ He is a big guy in college ball but in the nfl he is just wouldn't Make it as front line. You can say pretty much the same thing about any athlete who is not going up to the next level. However your football pay analysis is off. Did you not see or read The Blind Side. The "big lug" offensive lineman, especially the one projected to be the weak side tackle protecting the best paid player's, the quarterbacks blind side from the likes of a Teo are the second best paid players in the game. The worst paid are those most like "normal people" the smallest on the field aside from the kickers. The defensive backs charged with keeping up with the fastest players on the field thus they line up with a 10 yard head start and hope to react to the ball in time. And should a larger player bust through the line rule changes have taken away their weapon of launching to deliver a hit and they must try to wrestle with an armored larger man who will do a mini version of a launch and run right through them. [/Howie Long mode] Back to the discussion of how does a devout Mormon find love at a Catholic university. If he would have went to BYU there probably would have never been an internet/phone relationship. 1
Author Mrlonelyone Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Discrimination is all it can be called if his race and religion were really the issue. I mean people are attracted to what they are attracted to and all that. His issue probably wasn't getting laid on campus. He could and I'll bet did have sex with a fair number of women, but a man needs more than that. Any minority male here who dates women can think of a time that a white woman, or a woman of another minority group, liked them, would even have sex with them, but would not date them. Eventually that gets really really old and you seek out more than sex and want to be truly loved. A woman who truly loves you will not let such outside influences stop them. Perhaps the reason that Manti was so eager to fall for this wasn't that he was wanting for sex, but that he wanted to feel that someone truly loved him. If being tall, relatively athletic, and with a future of being well paid, isn't enough to counteract racial and religious discrimination; then what chance does an average Asian/Pacific Islander have? Let us remember this episode next time an Asian guy who dosen't look half bad and has a decent job complains about not being able to get a woman. Maybe they have a legitimate issue.
Disenchantedly Yours Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 There's something not quite right about the guy. You have to ask yourself: why is a football player for Notre Dame not slaying some college pussy and instead had an "online girlfriend"? Why would you need one when you have so much status on your campus and access to some of the hottest chicks in higher education? Cats certainly have progressed in the world if they are going to college now! 4
mammasita Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 To each their own. I think he is attractive as well, however - I am not attracted to him.
Els Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Your thread doesn't make any sense. So ONE woman called a man unattractive and now it's some kind of issue? There are men out there who find Angelina Julie or even scarlett johansson unattractive. Does it mean all men or most men do? heck no. PS: I searched the dude. He is attractive but I can see how his face might not be everyone's cup of tea. This. Seriously, I've seen fat unemployed college boys criticize Scarlett's appearance. Does that mean that no other women would have a snowball's chance in hell with a decent guy? I'm sure Manti will be fine, at least in the realm of physical attraction.
gaius Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Women are attracted to different things. Some women love Brad Pitt, I do not. I am not remotely attracted to him. But I have been very much attracted to men that most would probably say are less attractive then Brad Pitt. Women are alot more fluid in their attraction then men appear to be. Men are pretty fluid in their attraction too, they're just less honest about it. There's more social pressure on men to not accept physical imperfection than there is on women. The pressure on women seems to be more financial/status based. I think ditz summed it up best when she posted about her imperfections, and that the super fit and confident men she dated loved them while the lower caliber schlubs seemed to be uncomfortable with it. The guys who had confidence didn't care what others thought and went for what they really wanted. The woman in question from the OP, all she was really saying was that she isn't dating a guy that looks like Teo. If he came at her with exactly the kind of dynamic she liked I'm sure he would get attractive to her real fast. 5
serial muse Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Manti is a devout Mormon and very in tune with his Samoan heritage. I think this is one big piece of the puzzle. I'm sure there are others. 1
