antineutrino Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Semester started last week. I've never talked to her before. I have terrible approach anxiety, so it always takes me forever to build up the courage to ask out / approach girls. How should I do this? Just go up to her after class one day, start some small talk about the course, and then ask her for coffee? Or should I introduce myself, and then build some rapport over a few encounters and then ask her out? Any tips for getting over the approach anxiety? I've tried to rationalize it with "well, worst she can say is no" but it never helps.

I've tried to rationalize it with "well, worst she can say is no" but it never helps. I remember a long time ago I had TERRIBLE anxiety about speaking in front of people. Now I don't even bat an eye at it and could do it in my sleep because I've done it so much. Practice practice practice. I would say introduce yourself, joke around, get to know her, and if she seems receptive, ask her out. I always admire men who have stones big enough to approach me.
sillyanswer Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 How should I do this? Just go up to her after class one day, start some small talk about the course, and then ask her for coffee? Well, yes. Although, if you have anxiety, just go for the small talk. See if you can do that. Man up, dude.
ChessPieceFace Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I find the above comments offensive. I'm sorry you equate "being a man" with "having success with women." As an enlightened human, I know better.
