-I walk in, and the girl was being very friendly to me to start off

-I figured it was just her being polite

-I ordered a breakfast sandwich (which was amazing)

-I went up again, and she goes "anything else I can for you?" and I ordered a brownie

-She was really nice throughout; laughing at stuff

-Went up again, and she said "something ELSE huh? "

-Yeah, "how about your name and number?" (grew some big balls here)

-"Haha, oh my gosh!! Wow, THATS straight to the point, huh? " (she seriously acted like she had never been asked out before)

-At this point I thought I was in because of her big smile and great reaction, but then she said

-"I would, but Im so sorry, I have a boyfriend! Im sooo sorry" (idk why girls always say they are sorry)

-I just said, "oh, no problem. have a good day!"

-And she said "wait, I CAN tell you my name. Im katie"

-"Im mookie blaylock" (shake hands)

-"Im soo sorry, I feel so bad"

-"Really, don't worry about it, I should be going now"

-"Here, take my card! Im the manager here, so Im here all the time, you should come back, and we can talk! " (serious she winked at me)

-"Okay, sounds good, bye"

I might go back sometime just to see her, but probably not. there isn't really any point.

Why would she give me her card, for business? And wink at me?

Also, is it rude or disrespectful in your opinion to flirt with a barista?

Me neither. I say "Aww, I feel sorry for you as well."

Possibly business. Waitresses always tell me to ask for them the next time I come in. They're angling for a tip. I don't go to coffee shops so I don't know if they get tips, I'm sure some people tip. Anyway, she also could have done it to be friendly. Maybe there is something there between you and if things fall out with her boyfriend, you're next in line.

I flirt with any and every woman I interact with. Just in my nature. Whether I have interest in them or not, I just don't know how to not speak flirt when talking to a woman. Keeps me fresh and on my toes too, gives you experience in dealing with women.

People who sit around and hope for the best rarely ever succeed in life. I sadly know this from personal experience, it's best to just leave it behind and keep pushing towards something new, or in this case another girl.

My take on the situation, there's probably nothing going on, maybe she likes you, maybe she doesn't. Come back for the coffee, not for her. If you don't say anything about it, it would be presumed your offer is still withstanding, if there's a new development she can go ahead and make her move, but don't read into anything and especially don't wait around for her.

I agree, he shouldn't put much stock in this but, never hurts to keep the lines of communication open. That's how social circles grow.

Also I'm a barista myself and I flirt relentlessly with girls I find attractive, 95% of them I have no intention of making any move, but there are occasional ones I allow myself to get a little closer to, mostly regular customers. A lot of girls flirt back with me, we're all young here, we're all having fun. As long as you're not being creepy there's no reason to be shy, only prudes unworthy of consideration are typically offended by flirting.

Thanks. I was worried, because I posted this story on another forum, and people (mainly the older women) thought i was creepy.

My take is, its fun, harmless, and after she said she had a bf (true or not) I did not pursue any further.

She's a barista, and people working in the catering industry, from waitresses to hotel receptionists, are used to being flirted with all day or night. The good news is that you can use this fact to practice, since those people are very graceful and good at flirting. The bad news is that she's probably being nice and polite so as to encourage customers to come again. It was a fun little minute, maybe you can even do it next time with her, but don't expect too much to come from it.
