My exBF is an artist. He also carves tikis that you can see at the Trump Beach Bar and The Quarter at the Tropicana, both in Atlantic City.

He gets paid for them but he still has a day job.

He was contacted through a website he created though, if that helps you out.

I would like to come in contact meeting with artist or self made artist/

Hello.

and people that had the struggle of not knowing rather they should become a artist or not.

maybe cause of how they grew up.

I have always, always, always made art in some capacity. It was never not part of my life. My creative endeavors were encouraged at an early age but making a career out of art was never discussed.

and what made them choose at the end to go for it.

You have no choice. It is what you are and what you need to do.

how did your parents reat when you told them you want to be a artist.

did you got their support/?

My mother reacted very badly when I quit my first, "career job" to finish my Bachelors in art. She said (as it is emblazoned in my brain), "You are crazy to give up a great job with wonderful benefits to pursue a pipe dream when you have no talent."

and how their journey was.

It is life. The journey is excruciating.

and how can you live from it?

Sometimes you can't and you have to get a "real job" to eat and have shelter. But it doesn't stop you from creating.

or is it just fact of being lucky ?

It is never luck. It is always hard work. Granted, there are mediocre artists out there making a great living, but they still work hard at what they do - even if their art doesn't speak to you.

Also if you know someone that is making a living out of being a artist i would like to come in contact with him/her

I am almost 50 and my work is in a dozen galleries around the country. Sometimes it has been enough to make a living out of and sometimes it is not. Right now, my art is part time because other factors in my life are more important. When I was a full-time artist and living on my work, it was very hard to have a social life and a relationship because my art took 12+ hours a day. I have known other artists who are able to survive within relationships - I have never been that lucky.

But I am now glad for my relationship and I am proud of the work I create.
