amaysngrace Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 This thread reminds me of my niece on the beach. You should see the looks she generates and I'm sure she has started plenty of conversations too. She has three intersecting heart piercings on her back in a diagonal diamond, ruby, diamond kind of like this:http://www.justpiercings.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/back-piercing-picture-16.jpg and she has her mid-section tattooed in a few places and people stop and look at her like she's lesser than they are. She's graduating Drexel this spring with almost a 3.9 in engineering. She is taking a job with Lockheed and they will pay for her Masters. So for people to form an opinion of someone with them as stupid, or needy or attention-seeking or whatever is a little out of line. Some people just like them. 2

Pyro Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 So for people to form an opinion of someone with them as stupid, or needy or attention-seeking or whatever is a little out of line. Some people just like them. Just think of how many people that they interact with on a daily basis who have tattoos and/or piercings in areas other than the face and they have no clue because clothing is covering them. Me wearing a t-shirt and jeans and you would never know that I have 5 tattoos. I only wonder how many opinions of me would change if some people knew that I had them. 3
NYC-BigKat Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Guys, if you were on a date with a girl and found out she had a tattoo, would you continue dating her or no? How big/noticeable would it have to be for you to say no? Just curious. Been thinking of getting a tattoo for years now, but dunno how men see it; if it'd be a turn-off or dealbreaker for most. If the tattoos is kinda cute then yea I'd like it but um if its ugly & too big its nasty & no.
amaysngrace Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 That's kinda hot, unexpectedly . It feels weird to hug her though. Her back feels really bumpy.
veggirl Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I'm pretty positive most people who aren't into tattoos really don't have THAT strong of an opinion about them. Typically they just think they look unattractive. If someone has a few tattoos that are hidden by clothing, I'm sure most people really DO NOT give a fk nor would they "judge" you and think lesser of you. But people love to be the victim it appears so here's another way for a group to label themselves as such
danny in van Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 don't like them at all! Indicates vanity, conformity, lack of foresite (you will be jaded with your tattoo, just a matter of when, yet you're stuck with it) and indicates a followers sheep mentality. I have overlooked tattoos (ie still hooked up) but I've done that with girls who smoke, drink too much. Meaning I don't write the person off, but it does say something about their IQ to me...

They no longer indicate a rebel - quite the opposite- and indicate that person does not see into the future very welll...and indicates a high degree of vanity/ narcissism (to me anyway...) That someone would have themselves poked w a needle and ink with a PERMANENT piece of art always makes me think ' don't u have better things to do w your $ and time??' I sure do. It's proven when we see a smoker we 'judge' them to have a lesser IQ (and glasses do the opposite),,,I do the same w tattoos- I see them suddenly as less intelligent than if they didn't have one. Sorry- just saying how I feel. If you're carrying Chaucer under your arm, the opposite effect takes place. We all make our choices that affect how people sum us up, for better or wrose.

danny in van Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 tattoos are pseudo edgy/ rebellion for people who never actually rebel about anything significant. Ersatz cool that lasts a lifetime! hahah
danny in van Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Girl, if you get a tattoo, I better see a picture of it. That being said, I have three tattoos, and I've never gotten any complaints yet. I've never complained to a girl about her tattoo - and I've NEVER liked them- at all! Sorry, but 'no complaints ' means nothing...
miss_jaclynrae Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I have 2 tattoos, one I love, and the other I got for my ex husband. It is always one I hate trying to explain to those I am dating because it is actually a cute story and because I got it for... well, my EX. Whatever though, a guy doesn't want to be with me for my tattoos? Fine, I wouldn't want him anyways!
MrNate 2.0 Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 For shame. Didn't expect the amount of tattoo haters to be this high. I think they're hot.
danny in van Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 ~~~~~~~i said most people~~~~~~~~ and you have stats on your very confident claim about 'most people'? Didn't think so...

danny in van Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 A very good point, actually. I write this for the people who don't have but are considering tattoos or those thinking of getting more: several times I've gone home with a new girl and been disappointed when they reveal their tattoos (in bed I mean...) I never say it but always think 'ugh'... No it doesn't mean I walk out, but it's sure not a turn on!

I never say it but always think 'ugh'... No it doesn't mean I walk out, but it's sure not a turn on! Why should they listen to you? They could just as easily find someone who does find it a turn-on - or someone like me who doesn't care. 1
MrNate 2.0 Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Why should they listen to you? They could just as easily find someone who does find it a turn-on - or someone like me who doesn't care. Exactly. And I fall into the turn on crowd.
danny in van Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Exactly. And I fall into the turn on crowd. ok well I understand that it is a turn on. And why? Because girls with tattoos are perceived to be more permissive. Not saying it's true or not...but it seems that way. So a guy sees one and thinks 'oh she's kinky- great- me chances just increased!' So ya get a tattoo - and yes you will attract certain men...just know that's likely whyJ

Not saying it's true or not...but it seems that way. So a guy sees one and thinks 'oh she's kinky- great- me chances just increased!' So ya get a tattoo - and yes you will attract certain men...just know that's likely whyJ So, a woman getting associated with a tattoo is perceived to be more permissive. And going by the context you're using...more likely to be a tramp? How are you making these leaps here? Why can't it just be as simple as a woman saying, "Oh hey, I really like this tattoo. It looks really neat and I would love to get it."? 1
Eclypse Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Personally... not a fan. Sometimes it can look hot, but most of the times it doesn't. It's a case by case basis for me but like I said usually I don't find it attractive. The girls on Suicide Girls are hot though. however they are hot anyway. Ugly chick with tattoos = even bigger no than normal. Piercings however are an outright no for me. I'm not going to go making assumptions about the personality of tattooed women though. It's a physical thing for me. 1

It looks really neat and I would love to get it."? Well that's the answer a child could give. Not very deep and doesn't acknowledge many points about our psyche. For example, men like full lips on a woman, and curvy hips. Why? You'd say 'uh cuz I like how they look' . You would not pass the test if it was a psych course (which is what we're doing here- talking psych) . The answer is it indicates fertility, and indicates future offspring. And Tattoos are all about sexuality aren't they? Why do people adorn their bodies? And again, it's not the 5 yr old answer that is at all interesting 'cuz I like to!'
