LOL! This is precisely what I was talking about when I mentioned the fact that most tattooed women find men who find them (tattoos) to be a deal breaker repellant.

FTR, I don't have anyone's name on my body, but I don't entirely understand how that choice represents impulsiveness. If a woman is married to or involved with a man for years and years and that man leaves her...how was she impulsive in having his name tattooed on her body? What "type" of woman is this exactly?

Although I only have a small tattoo, I do find men who "dislike tattoos like the plague" totally repellent. It's just not the type of men I'm into. It says a lot about a guy's personality and it's usually not the type of personality I am attracted to. Maybe it's a good test for potential dates to test someone's world views.

For all of you saying it's absurd to have someone's name tattooed and that person should be dismissed as a potential partner... lol! Give me a break. So judgmental, wow! I personally wouldn't do it, but my sister does have one letter tattooed, he has tragically died, and it's a nice memory of him. Btw she's beautiful, sweet, loving, everything a guy could dream of.

Big deal... everyone has scars from past relationships, visible or not visible. They will all disappear when we die...

Was this not your post?

Honestly, I don't mean to crawl up your ass here. I just think there are a lot of assumptions, judgments, projections being made on the basis of a little of ink. You don't know the people you're talking about or why they made the choices they have.

Opps, guess I did say that, impulsive probably wasnt the right word

And yes, I making a lot of assumptions and judgements...the people I know who have more than just 2 or 3 little tattoos are not my type personality wise, I've never been attracted to any of them and it isn't just the tattoos, but their personalities have never done it for me...there are probably exceptions to that, but on top of that I find too many tattoos just unattractive to really give those exceptions a chance. I just see a bunch of tattoos and I lose physical attraction too.

What exactly do you think it says about a guy that he doesn't like tattoos?

Tattoos are not in my opinion very attractive on women. What is that supposed to say about me? I don't like tons of facial piercings either.

It's really a case by case basis for me. If they have a full sleeve, that's a deal breaker, or something else massive that is always visable. Something small on the ankle, back, or whatever is fine. Even seen some on the side that look good. It depends what it is to. I mean a flower on the ankle is really generic and common but no big deal at all.

Depends. In general I'm alright with something like a small tattoo somewhere. But if it was a large tattoo it would either be really attractive to me or a real turn off. Depends on the location and what the actual tattoo is.

LOL god Pyro you will defend practically anything a chick even hypothetically does.

ffs I'd rather date a guy with a big black BOX colored in on his body than a guy with his exes name scrawled on his body. I'm sure between 18 and 27 a person could come up with the cash to color over it or figure out a design over it lol :lmao:

So you think women from Suicide Girls website are not attractive? I can't imagine a guy who wouldn't but oh well...

Well... I know people (and maybe you) are going to throw stones on me for this... but whatever. I'm just going to put it out there. You will probably called me judgmental, but below is my general concept of people who can't appreciate body modification. Please prove me wrong, I am here to my change ideas and progress as a person.

In my mind, the guys I know who are worried about how many tattoos a girl has (and if she has any), have, in my mind, one or a few of these character traits: they are quite conservative, right-wing leaning, not usually an urban person, not inclined to like arts, or alternative cultures and subcultures (or at least understand it), not that traveled, or worldly. Also guys on the preppy side usually say this, the ones who like Barbie looking girls.

For me, any of the above kinds of guy is un-datable anyway, so it would be good to know beforehand about his dislike for tattoos etc., so I don't have to bother deciphering them and waste my time with someone I will be culturally incompatible with.

Just to put it out there, I also dislike ugly and trashy tattoos. And to make it clear, the guy for me does not need to have any tattoos himself but he has to be open to like subcultures.

I'm pretty sure lots of guys aren't attracted to the chicks on Suicide Girls.....I really don't think it's odd for a guy to not be attracted to a chick loaded in tats and dressed gothic....

Yes I agree. A whole body tattoo might be too much... but one sleeve or so? I don't think it's too much these days. I mean, so many people have it. I wouldn't think it's disgusting or shocking as before.

One sleeve or so is a LOT. Personally I don't like tattoos. I wouldn't date a guy with "one sleeve or so". Maybe one or two small tattoos, thats it! I dated a guy who during the relationship got a big tattoo over his ribs...I was so turned off. Some people just aren't into it. to me it just looks messy having tattoos. And on a girl, if I was a guy, I'd be fine with, again, something small (1 or 2) but a sleeve or something, that just seems masculine and unattractive to me. To each their own, lots of people love tattoos, but I don't understand why you seem confused that some people don't lol.

I dont consider them hot, they have nice bodies, but all those tats turn me off...maybe if I was tipsy and it was a hit a run, the ones with not too much tats (comparative) I could sleep with

I agree, a sleeve is excessive

Well I think then we can agree it's a cultural taste (?)

I believe people who are into it are usually into a specific kind of culture, music, etc. So it makes sense that some people would like it and be turned on by it (as I am!) and others would not.

And I guess it has nothing to do with the specific kinds of guys I described above, as no one commented on that?

I guess OP's question was then more about how most guys would react to a girl having one or two small tattoos.

Whether a person finds tattoos on the opposite sex attractive is largely an involuntary preference, no different than inexplicably liking (or disliking) a certain breast size, hair color, skin color, and so forth. Trying to connect such a preference to someone's personality traits is incredibly presumptuous.

Because I don't see a few tattoos as a big deal. It's just a non-existent issue. Not talking about sleeves per se, but if a guy has a few (not ugly looking) tattoos, what's the problem with that? It's about personal expression. Does it bother you guys because it looks ghetto/prison/whatever like or something? Yeah, I don't really get what the issue is to be honest.

Not involuntary for me at all. I know from experience that guys with cool/thoughtful tattoos are usually my type as they are into arts, ideas, subcultures. Nothing presumptuous about it. I usually connect with them in all levels. People I know who find it disgusting and unattractive are usually people I also don't connect with in any other level.

We obviously live in different cultures / worlds. That's why you don't understand my point.

The fact that tattoos enhance YOUR physical attraction to men in a conscious and deliberate manner does not make it so for everyone else. Plenty of people just find them either generally appealing or unappealing from an aesthetic level. I'm somewhere in the middle. I see a lot of "artsy" people with horrendously executed tattoos in all sorts of random places and think they're silly but I've certainly been attracted to women with tattoos.

Your generalizations about guys with tattoos being into "arts, ideas (whatever the hell that means), and subcultures" suggest to me that the world you claim to live in (which apparently is separate from the one I live in) is quite insular in nature. Plenty of preppy dudes getting shredded at the gym have multiple tattoos, as do many of their "barbie doll" girlfriends. Having tattoos doesn't make anyone unique or edgy anymore. It's been that way for at least a decade now, if not longer.

With that said, I doubt whatever world you claim to live in is any different from mine. I've consistently participated in some of the most unusual and extreme musical subcultures for over a decade now. Some of the people involved are covered in ink, while many such as myself are free of tattoos. A lot of that has to do with how they choose to put bread on the table. My idea of a good life does not involve paying a ridiculous amount of money to live a life of genteel poverty in a closet-sized East Village apartment, so I'm required to have a normal haircut and no visible tattoos. Others seem to feel differently.

Do you know, my exH had like five or six tattoos and even had my name on him. He's about as artistic as a slug.

My exBF on the other hand is a musician/songwriter, carves tikis, paints and draws, is one with the ocean as a surfer yet he is completely free of ink.

Go figure.

Yes, they are hot ... now.

But do i know the reasons they decided to do that to their bodies ?

Do all the girls who have tattoo's look like that ?

Do i see them as having long term potential ?

There are the questions that go through my mind when i look at them.

Where is your tattoo and how big is it ?

PS: I generally go for 2 types of girls.

Either the tomboy or the suave feminine girly girl.

I dislike tats on either of them, don't have them myself.

I'd not have a problem with tats on a girl... My girlfriend has 2 herself.

But then again I have several tats also.

Last girlfriend has a set of eagle wings acroos the top of her butt..very sexy though her previous boyfriends name was there! She had a small tatoo on the side of her fake breasts too, nice, same thing, had his name!

Prior girlfriend had a butterfly on the back of her shoulder which I thought was sexy.
