Got it Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I think looking at the local schools in your area and evaluating, if you were to put your child in a school what is the cost of the one you would prefer. Look at that piece to see if it is financially solvent. My niece is in an AMAZING school with a 3:1 ratio, they are taught sign language, cognitive learning, etc and when they hit preschool years they are taught a foreign language, etc. It is culturally advance, kids who go to this school as babies/toddlers have shown to do better in elementary school onward. There are some amazing schools where you do not have the horror stories that others speak about. My mom watched other kids in our home. It was fine. But like was very educated woman that has never met her financial capability due to being out of the workforce for so many years. You have to look out for your future as well and what is the best interest of the family as a whole. I disagree that taking a long stint out of the workplace is a good idea. It is harder to find jobs now, there are many out of work and even with that there is a biased against those with holes in their resumes due to unemployment. Can you look at being a consultant or work from home in your career? Take your career into account as well. You may need to be able to provide for your family as the primary breadwinner as well. 1
Author Lauriebell82 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Oy, so I lost my job today. I was just working part time hours (1 night per week), and they decided to do away with all the part time positions and hire someone full time. Ugh.
