Is it strange for a young male to not enjoy casual sex?

Hi, just a quick question.

 

I am 21 years of age and have multiple sexual partners, however have not had sex for over 18 months. The majority of my sexual partners have been casual and were very enjoyable although not as much as someone I had strong feelings for.

 

The last person I was with was very casual, a one night stand which sort of tried to progress to a friends with benefits situation however feelings got involved on her side so I broke it off. Despite this I also felt like I didn't really enjoy the sex too much because there wasn't any connection mentally, I had never had this before and it was strange.

 

Since then it's like I've been waiting for someone I truly feel I could love, I found someone like that but she's taken so I'm keeping my distance however I do find myself thinking on it hard, I've told some people about this and the typical answer is "You need to get laid" but I just don't want to do it with someone I don't mentally connect with, I mean I've had offers from women I think are stunning physically but because we just don't have that spark I'm not interested. Is this a weird thing to be experiencing for a male of my age? Thanks for reading.

Well letter fist say I comend you on your choice to look for something more .

Society today in general is hard with tv,movies,music,its like if your not trying to screw every girl that's hot your somehow weird?but your not your simply realizing you want connection love a special bond and truly I believe most not all but most people want that deep down and hence why FWB doesn't pan out often .

 

I was very similar to you I was even a professional model from age 17 to 22 ,so I had lots of women wanting pure sex but at age 18 for me I was not into the hook up scene I wanted a special girl to share sex with and be happy I got so much **** from buddies of mine wishing they had the opportunity to get as much as I did and called me gay called me insecure so on lol but I wasn't I just was me !a good guy that like you lived a little did the casual thing but realized I wanted more .so here's my advise be true to you don't do it just foe the sake of pure pressure or feeling horny lol that's what jacking offs for lol but instead look for a girl with similar values as you with similar sexual past and then you'll find a great girl and you can get the amazing sex and special connection ! good luck and be proud your a great guy

Or you're a bit too scared of how you'll be evaluated by the woman in question in the case of casual sex. Safer to build a bond.

Thank you for all the replies it's comforting, I'm sure most people around me see me as weird as without trying to sound big headed I'm not a bad looking guy so it's nice to read these posts.
