This comes up one a year as people come and go. I'm just curious if we have any musicians here who find solace in playing. I used to play guitar and bass and had an arsenal of 12 guitars and a couple of basses. But I felt compelled to give it all up but one guitar because I felt is was a juvenile thing for me at my age and I needed to come down to earth and just keep one acoustic guitar--a Martin D-42 which is wonderful. But feeling I have adjusted I just got myself an American "Special" Fender Stratocaster (classic sunburst with white pick guard and maple neck) and I got Digitech effect processor and wha-wha for Christmas. I'm finding it great to shake me ass again get into playing. Good therapy that is pushing me to get more exercise and lose weight. Any stories along these lines? It can be a didgeridoo for all I care.

Saw a nice Martin electric acoustic yesterday at the music store marked down from $8k to $4k. Pretty guitar....too much a price though. I'll stick with my Ibanez. Still on my bucket list to play it well like I know how to play. Lol! I need something with a smaller neck so I've thought about just investing in a cheap electric guitar to learn on as I haven't ran across a good acoustic to accommodate my small hands.

Have a single being released shortly on an album full of artists I listen to & respect ! Submitted the track in the wake of a breakup that had me in more emotional anguish than possibly anything preceding it in my life. Find more solace making music than anywhere else, though there were times it seemed worthless/trivial when I was feeling particularly bad.

Just bought a Fender Jaguar this weekend, first electric guitar I've owned in about 6 years (I'm a multi-instrumentalist by nature). Wanted one since my early teens. LOVE it... Enjoy that Strat !

Got a couple of acoustic guitars and a mandolin, they really do help to calm me and give me a wee bit of satisfaction. Also paint and manage to sell some of them, very cathartic, but it's mustering up the initial starting of things that's the hard part at times.

I did. I was Playing three hours on weekdays and eight on the weekends just to keep myself busy, and it helped a lot. I would definitely recommend the bliss that comes from music and creating it.

I can’t play any instruments to save my life (apart from play-by-ear basic keyboards), but I sing and have been writing songs for several years, and YES I have been using music to help me through. I “talk” to my ex through my songs. I did this way back when we were sort of half getting together but it wasn’t confirmed yet, as it was the only way I felt comfortable saying certain things to him, and now again, it’s the only way I CAN say anything to him since he went NC and left me. I don’t know if he’s heard any of my recent songs, but I still write them to “get it out”.
