Does attention from men make women more care free?

This is more an observation of younger women (college age or so).

 

Generally women that are average looking or better draw a lot of attention from men. I think it has been proven here that attractiveness or dating options doesn't make dating or finding love any easier. However I think that most of us agree that receiving attention or positive reinforcement (whether it be for looks, smarts, athletic acheivement, etc...) feels good and makes us happy.

 

Now, at such as sex charged time of our lives (early 20's), being desirable is a highly sought after trait. At the same time however, relationships and dating itself isn't quite as important as it becomes later in life. Mostly because you are so busy in that college time between school and partying and classes and in general you don't have a lot of money at that time to date anyway.

 

So all that being said, in a time where sex and attraction is at such a higher premium than love in relationships, is this why women appear so much happier and care-free than their average looking guy counterparts? Is knowing that you can have sex at any time make women less worried about sex in general?

 

I remember back then I was so consumed with sex and thinking that it was a validation of me as a person that it was constantly on my mind. And when I wasn't getting it, it made me dislike myself as a person. It was quite common to go out and see all these women getting attention and having a good time and in turn it made me miserable because I wanted that same attention from the opposite sex. It was consuming.

 

HOwever, if you are getting that attention, then do you really worry about getting sex...one of the highest valued commodities during that period of your life? Are you able to enjoy yourself more because the thing that worries people of that age more than anything else isn't worrying you?

 

TL;DR

 

- Sex for young people is important (moreso than relationships and love)

- Attention / ability to get sex is easier for average looking young woman than average looking young man

- Does knowing you can get sex make you happier/more care free in your younger years?

In many countries, males are conscripted for 2 years, while women can date, bang, go to school, or get a head start on their careers. They're care free while men are training to be cannon fodder.
