Considering this is a small world, there was a woman I met on POF about a year ago , and we went out on a date, we talked about doing it again, so I called her, and got blown off (no reply)

So I moved on...at a New Years party, I bumped into her... surprised...she tried to explain herself to me as to why she blew me off....she was kind of tripping on her words, and it was cute trying to see her foolishly explain herself....probably because she didn't expect me there.

She tried to reaquaint herself with me by asking what I did for a living, and I told her...and said "You a nanny as well?"

And she looks at me funny "Wow, you have a good memory." As if it was the strangest thing she ever heard.

I had a few situations like that, where I remembered a certain aspect of a woman like that, only for them to be creeped out by the fact that I remembered.

WHat's Ironic is all these women who complain how their boyfriends/husbands dont' remember their own Anniversaries. LOL among other things.

Men get creeped out by this too. I remember lots of stuff, birthdays, random facts they've told me about their families, etc. Sometimes they look embarrassed that I remember small details that they would either rather forget or have regretted mentioning. It's an ability I've learned to disguise.

I don't find it inherently creepy. In a partner its a great quality.

She was putting on an act. The likelihood is that she was embarrassed to run into you and was trying to not show it.

It sounds like she didn't like you too much and as soon as she escaped she forgot all about you. Then she was surprised at your recollection, which is stronger because you probably spent time wondering whatever happened to her. Its happened to me before but I am terrible with names so if I recognize someones face I try to avoid them lol.

That's not ironic at all. A boyfriend/husband is supposedly someone they've been with quite awhile, and should know them inside out. You, on the other hand, went on one date a year ago.

Anyway, she was probably just surprised. A lot of people don't remember those small details about someone they went out with one time. It's not a woman thing, it's a people thing.

Sometimes they are. I do remember a lot of things about people I meet. It depends on how you articulate that great memory to an extent, but if she already has a built up perception of you then it will still seem creepy .

You're right, sometimes they are. Just like how sometimes men would be.

I wouldn't be creeped out myself really. Sometimes I remember silly details, but I don't tell people because yeah they might think I'm the creep.

This kind of thing is why I hate these "women, are you" or "men, are you" gender threads. No, one size does not fit all. /rant

I think another poster said it best.

If she has no interest in you/doesn't like you - she will be creeped out because she likely remembers nothing of you

If she has any interest in you/does like you - she will like the fact you remembered

I tend to remember random facts about everyone's lives, regardless of interest XD I'm sure many people think I'm a creep, but whatever. As long as my partner likes it, that's all that matters.

True enough. It's amazing how well recollection works just by seeing someone's face or hearing their name. Anyone who I've met friends or otherwise I usually remember some random things about them.

I sometimes hold back on my memory because I might creep someone out, male or female...I remember a lot

To me it shows interest and a guy actually listening.Players will give you offhand comments, make you repeat yourself,so you feel foolish, forget things you have said its part of the game....a true guy who actually is worth something will remember the little quirks or important facts you have said....to me there is nothing strange.....i do it with a guy when i am interested I listen......if i am not interested i am not as invested......there should be no reason why she thought it was creepy, as another poster said she was probably embarrassed or just not interested in you.....deb

I don´t. I have amazing memory, but I tried not to speak of way too specific things because they really creep out. If I run into someone I really care I pick it up just where we left, I get compliments all the time on how i remember details etc. Of course I dont go to the weird details (example, letting them know I remember perfectly their password to their Macbook after a year!) that is a NO No!!!

But I think it speaks volumes on how you care and listen so somene alse if you remember the important details...

I don't find a good memory creepy at all, I'd find it flattering if a guy remembered something from a long time back

Creepy? Are you kidding me? I wish I had a good memory. You know how much trouble I get into when my wife and I are having sex and she does something specifc and I say, "Wow, honey, you are really getting good at that" and she says, "That's the first time I've ever done that."....then punches me in the face.

Not. Good. :/

I doubt most women are creeped out by a good memory. At best, she may be surprised, especially if she doesn't know the guy well. What matters here is how the guy expresses his good memory. If the woman was truly creeped out by the guy remembering some little thing about her from a year or two ago, then it's not because of the guy's memory. It's because of his social ineptitude. Something in the way he expressed himself didn't sit well with her.

I have this problem too. Like others, I've learned to rein it in and not be a creeper about it.

But, you remembering what she does for a living isn't creepy at all. That's just polite.

If people are surprised when I remember things, I just say 'well yeah, I have a great memory' and that usually sorts things out.

Although I do often remember full conversations, I very rarely relay them because that is super weird to do to someone you don't know that well.

I've been creeped out by women who do this as well, and I'm not sure why.

I've had several women reiterate dialogue we've had or things I've said, word for word, months later. I could only take them at their word, since I couldn't recall what I had said (at least not exactly), but they memorized it exactly. Probably rehearsed saying it back to me as well.

I think memorizing facts and conversations indicates an unusually high level of interest, perhaps even an obsession.

Good, you've learned a lesson. Don't telegraph so much interest.

i dont think thats true, i will remember certain things i dont memorize them, it just happens, its a good sign for me means i am actually happy when i am depressed or distracted....i dont remember much at all...when i am around peopel i care about or hear things about people i care about ..i stockpile conversations facts smiles on faces i adore happy thoughts good conversations...even colors and who is wearing them....about people i am interested in knowing...everything else slides...i remember....thats because they bring out the best in me not the worst...ie obsession..i also can flashback....i have a photographic memory and that comes out in high stress or in good times....so i have soemthing to keep me going.....or something to protect myself with..deb

I wouldn't be creeped out by a man who paid attention to detail, because essentially that is the definition of a good memory. That and the fact something the woman said must have stuck with him. I would be flattered.

But. But, this is true mostly under 2 conditions: 1. The man is sensible and attractive in the eyes of the woman; and 2. He is sincere and intelligent enough to be taken seriously. Otherwise, the woman will feel turned off by the comment.

Sadly, there are some women out there who are just as shallow as men (if not more) and become turned off when it comes to receiving comments such as ones mentioned in the OP or compliments in general from less attractive men.

I think people in general get creeped up by people who remember intricate details about stuff that happened a long time ago. I mean, unless you are in a relationship with that person, they assume that it's kinda creepy that you remember stuff about them. I managed to freak out one of my friends. We had been friends for a while -- met at school. But I realized, months after getting to know him, that my family knew his family and that I had been to his house when we were kids... I mean, I met this guy out of the blue, at school, after not having seen him for 22 years..... I found out that I knew him from when we were kids, when he mentioned his brother's name. I then asked him if his dad's name was such and such... then I proceeded to tell him that I remembred the layout of his old house, the stuff we did when we visited his house, and the fact that his mom set a dinner table for us, and the kinds of food that she served. His jaw dropped.... I don't think he looks at me the same way as before... lol. Every time he sees me, he tells me, you have such a freaky memory.:o

The bottom line on this was said already. If she likes you nothing you do is creepy, if she does not like you everything you do is creepy. So just do you and to hell with anyone thinking it's creepy.

Exactly. Who remembers these infinitesmally small details? Robbers and stalkers. :)

haha, well, i am neither.. I was not in touch with this kid since we were 7.... that was the last time I had seen him. that's 22 years ago... I do happen to have a freakish graphic memory..
