xoxo67 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 My guy and I are exclusive, but not officially dating. He told he me likes me. But I feel like he does not put in a lot of effort. I feel like I 90% of the time start conversations. He doesnt ask me to go to dinner or dates. He didnt do anything for my birthday but he'll show he cares other times, sometimes. Im just confused. Is this normal guys!? He's also never had a gf before so idk if that has anything to do with it.

My best advice to you is to start a list of standards. These are things that you can't live with or live without. So perhaps an example of a standard is; your man has to initiate conversations, take you to dinner or dates, etc.... Most importantly don't ignore the bright ass red flags. If you feel that your personal needs are not being met then perhaps this man is not for you. You can not change a man. Lastly, if you really feel like you need some positive answers ask him why he doesn't do things that you would like. Hope this helps, good luck!
Toddbt12y1 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Find a man who will stepup and appreciate time with you and your bday. If he is unwilling to stepup, let another man do it.
chex Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 He's probably looking for a more relaxed, casual relationship than you are. As you said, you're not dating, but you're exclusive. Most likely he just wants to avoid drama and conflict, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you want him to take initiative, you should probably tell him or break up with him.
