sjh2156 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I have been dating a lovely lady for a few months and we have become very close. We do have some sort of connection which neither of us can explain, all I know is the connection makes me genuinely care about her well being. Neither of us seem to want to end any date we go on and we stay together for hours, often the last people at the venue. The last time we met she was on about meeting some of her friends and what we will be doing for her birthday, but her birthday is in September and is a big one (40)! so I am thinking she sees us still being together in 9 months time, which is great. I do miss her loads when she is not about for a few days and the more time I spend with her the more I miss her if that makes any sense. The question I am struggling with is how to tell when dating has moved on to a more serious relationship? I was thinking I should just ask her the question, but what is the way to put it?

Sounds like she has put a serious stamp on it already with the birthday thing and meeting her friends......you will know when the time is right, it will probably come around by her leading the conversation into it....meet the friends and see what happens next...best wishes....deb
Author sjh2156 Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 Yeah that is what I am thinking, meeting her friends was not really a surprise but the birthday did surprise me a bit with it being so far in the future and being an important day for her, but in a good way
TaraMaiden Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Just hold her hand, and swing along the road, and as you walk, just say, "We make a great couple, don't we?" if she stops in her tracks, and says, with that horrified look on her face - "Now hold on a minute - !!" you know you've taken it too fast. But somehow, i entirely doubt that this is how she will react. She will far more probably smile, and agree.... 1
Author sjh2156 Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 What a great way to raise the question, may well give that a try 1
Author sjh2156 Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Well I have tried this and it worked like a dream We was walking along holding hands and saw a friend who we both know, after the friend was gone she commented on how happy the friend seemed, I said maybe they see us as a great couple ..... There was a pause, then she smiled and said "I think this is the start of something special" Thanks again
