irc333 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I've seen quite a few profiles of women stating, "Sorry if I sound a bit jade, but I just got out a 4 year relationship with someone that treated me like crap." or something, and then finish it off with "If you think you can change my mind, send me a message" Of course, I'm sure hardly replies to anyone that tries to "change herm ind"
Balzac Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Incredible huh? It's an advert for a users to step right up!
Anela Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Two years ago, when I ended up writing that I was too jaded to be dating, I got a flood of messages. I also thought they were trying to take advantage.

I know, I'm thinking "What's the point right" and ending it with, "try to PROVE me me otherwise" is senseless, becuase she'll just get WAVES of emails from trying to prove themselves. Talk about a mess! LOL
Treasa Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Wow, that's a profile I would run away from quickly and never return. Way to sell yourself!! Tell the potential next guy that he has to deal with the past guy's mistakes because the woman can't let go of her baggage and just move on. 5
Treasa Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I kind of want to message people like this and tell them to fix their own damn issues because they're making asses of themselves in a public place. Now see, if she HAD to bring her ex into it, she should have said, "My last boyfriend was a dick, so you're already a step up just for existing! :)"
TouchedByViolet Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I think messages like that definitely reduce the number of quality relationship minded men who contact you. Having said that, as long as you are a decent looking women who will have plenty of suitors online anyways.
sillyanswer Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 She might as well write something like "I know I'm not really datable right now but I want you guys to give me attention and free meals so that I have something to do when my gfs are busy. Only if your hot, though." (Yes, the spelling mistake is deliberate.) 2
Anela Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Wow, that's a profile I would run away from quickly and never return. Way to sell yourself!! Tell the potential next guy that he has to deal with the past guy's mistakes because the woman can't let go of her baggage and just move on. When I wrote it, I'd been messaged quite a bit and realized that I couldn't handle it and that no-one deserved to be dealing with that. My life is screwed up anyway. For someone to write something like that, I'd think they have to have hit a real low point. I was just being honest, hoping to let people know that it really was me, not them (other than certain idiots who wrote wanting to hook up, and the older men who ignored my preferences). There are plenty of people who make asses of themselves in all sorts of ways. She doesn't need to be lectured (I know that I didn't).
Treasa Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I wouldn't lecture someone like that. However, I'd probably send them a message saying that they're really giving off the wrong vibe, and maybe right now dating someone else isn't a great idea. Especially if they just got out of a bad relationship. I do still think that it's not a good way to attract a quality person, and the person writing something like that will probably only attract another jerk who's going to take advantage of the situation.
sabre80 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Now see, if she HAD to bring her ex into it, she should have said, "My last boyfriend was a dick, so you're already a step up just for existing! :)" Thats actually really clever and funny but cynical all in the same breath
aed Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Oh well there are always men and women who are up for a challange.
Disillusioned Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 LOL!!! It sounds about as appealing as "my parole officer thinks it would for me to have a gf".
