bluenite Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 So I did something by accident that probably makes me come off as the creepiest person in the world. I have a real online dating profile. I also have a fake one (my reasons for this are in another thread). The wording on each profile is the same but the pictures are different (as is the height). So as I was browsing through my search results on my FAKE profile, I found the profile of one of my parents coworkers. She is an attractive girl who is the same age as me. She hadn't checked her profile in a week. I then decided it would be a good idea to wink at her. For what reason, God only knows. The problem is that I thought I was on my REAL profile. Later on, I logged in on my REAL profile and checked her profile out- to see if she had been online and seen my wink. I then realized that I used the wrong profile to wink, so I blocked her from contact. Not knowing that doing so still allowed her to view my profile. So now I just found out her profile is completely hidden and she was online at some point today. My guess is that she saw the wink from the FAKE profile and saw that I viewed her (as she can recognize me) and then compared the two profiles. And then she probably thought WTF, who is this creep bag, is he out of his mind. Am I out of my mind? Is this not the definition of creepy? I'm guessing any chance I ever had with her would now be flushed down the toilet. Is the best course of action to avoid going to my parent workplace (and anyone who works there) at all costs? I feel like such an idiot creepo right now...
Keenly Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Dude, I think you might need some things to do in your spare time.
Treasa Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Tell her the truth. You were doing a social experiment, but you winked at her with the test profile while you were checking the results. Don't over-explain things. Honestly, it's not that creepy. I can see why you feel embarrassed, but I'd probably laugh and find it amusing. Then again, I have a weird sense of humor.
Author bluenite Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 Dude, I think you might need some things to do in your spare time. I don't do this all the time! I'm just freaking out b/c I did something really dumb. But lesson learned, no more OLD for me. Tell her the truth. You were doing a social experiment, but you winked at her with the test profile while you were checking the results. Don't over-explain things. Honestly, it's not that creepy. I can see why you feel embarrassed, but I'd probably laugh and find it amusing. Then again, I have a weird sense of humor. I hope to never see her again. But if I do, do you really think it would be a good idea to bring it up out of the blue? Thanks for saying its not creepy!
Imajerk17 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) She probably hid her profile in the first place as she already met someone she likes. So it sounds that this girl isn't even a prospect. Meanwhile delete your fake and if she does come back write her an email from your real. As you are of the many many guys who winked she is unlikely to have given this incident much thought at all. EDIT: To be extra safe rewrite your real so it isn't word-for-word like your fake. EDIT: To be extra safe rewrite your real so it isn't word-for-word like your fake. 1) Hopefully that is the case and she did find someone. She works with one of my parents, so she was off limits anyways... 2) Good point about the many winks - that makes me feel A LOT better. I won't be emailing her. If I see her again I'll be asking her out in person (or doing nothing at all, which is the norm). 3) I deleted the fake. Thanks again Jerk. Your post made me feel a lot better and certainly put things into perspective!
christine07 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 LOL or just tell her someone stole your information and made a fake profile
Author bluenite Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 LOL or just tell her someone stole your information and made a fake profile Is it that bad? Does it completely ruin any chance I had with her? When I see her again, should I pretend it never happened or come right out and explain myself...
