Atamawood Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 What do we really learn from break ups besides the fact the people just suck, I mean come on, we give them our all and end with nothing, me having been both the dumper who through away great relationships and being the dumpee. People just suck.

People just suck. hopefully you learn valuable and important life lessons about yourself and about others that you can put to use in the future, just like any other experience.
carhill Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 What do we really learn? Well, that's pretty individual... Here's my top three: 1. How to more effectively reflect upon successes and failures in said relationships and learn and grow from them 2. That life is short and valuable 3. To really appreciate and love those people who are consistently and authentically there and loving for the rare gifts they are. 1
Author Atamawood Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 Thank you guys, I guess I'm feeling a little bitter at the moment. I know there is a lot to learn, frankly this last BU just shined the mirror back in my face. I realize that I have a lot to work on in myself and am on the road to recovery!
carhill Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I went through that 'bitter' period during my divorce and postings here reflected the process. We each grieve in our own way and on our own timeline. Anger and bitterness can be a feature of that. Time will provide perspective on what has occurred. Part of #2 is understanding the brevity and finite quantity of it and balancing what one needs to grieve with the reality of life and death. Good luck to you in your journey. 1
