CarrieT Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I am being pragmatic because my entire life has been a bit of a wunderlust; I easily moved from Orange County to San Diego to Northridge to San Pedro to Redondo Beach before heading to NoCal. Once I hit the Bay Area, I lived in both wine country and San Francisco proper so I am very lucky that within an hour's drive, I can be at the beach or hiking or in the city at a world-class museum or restaurant. While I am not thrilled with the coastside hamlet I am moving to, I am lucky that the relationship is one that is built on these mutual interests; i.e., we will head to the city or wine country on our weekends to continue to enjoy these treats. I'm sure it is different for other folks in smaller towns. Our long-term plan is one of travel and perhaps - ultimately - a European residence. But as I am in transition mode right now (80% of my stuff is still in Napa and we are just there on weekends to pack and move me), I am feeling very displaced without "my stuff." Admittedly, being an artist I have a more aesthetic definition of what and how I want my living space to be like and the family I am entering is one with kids and clutter. We are learning to be together as a unit and, slowly, I will see how much of my artwork and furnishings I can incorporate (and how much of their icky tschotskes I can discard!).
outsidethebox Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 irc, not being snarky, but any reason why you are not considering moving closer to a lady you would want to move closer to you but she doesn't want to move?
