Angel Heart Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I just curious to know how some guys end their relationships. I suppose it would be unique depending on the situation. But does anyone have generic examples of how one does so? Especially without hurting their feelings, perhaps.
carhill Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 In the cases of the two people I loved the most and invested the most, the endings were definitely emotion-filled, mainly sadness on my part, but overall very calm. From my side, I asked for what I needed for the relationships to continue and, as that was not acceptable, I said 'good-bye', once with exactly those words and the other 'we should divorce'. Done.
Author Angel Heart Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 My partner indicates he likes me and enjoys spending time with me but also added he will call me b/c his life is complicated right now. He hasn't contacted me and I'm assuming it means he just needs more time to sort things out or just wants to end it without being the one to end it via non contact. Anyone else do that as a easy way to end it?
Balzac Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Sounds to me that you're weary of the wait. You can call it over by moving on.
clia Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 It is not uncommon for men to just "poof." Sounds like yours might be taking this easy way out.
Author Angel Heart Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 Actually, I'm not tired of the wait, I just would like to know if non contact is a red flag. Or that easy way out for ending it for a man.

Not only is non contact a red flag, but saying his life is complicated is a cowards way of saying he isnt interested in you anymore. If he was trying to say that his life is too busy for a relationship, its crap. No ones ever too busy to date who they like. Was his life too complicated in the beginning to start dating you?
Author Angel Heart Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 clia, I think you're right on the nose, but I'm not ready to accept that reality right now. Yea, *poofing* does sound like a horrible way for a man to end it. I'll wait a little longer and go from there. I'm just not one to do the dating scene well and not looking forward to moving on. Darn.

Yes, he indicated his life was complicated when we met. He's the one legally separated and spends his extra time with his daughters. He would be a horrible coward to include how he likes me and wants to spend time with me and then just *poof* on me.
