I just think people should treat other the best they possibly can. It has nothing to do with gender roles. Why would you not want to give somebody you claim to love the best treatment. If it is mutual it is a great relationship.

The kind of women who scream at a man for holding a door are the kind who helped give feminism a bad name.

Ha. Ok then. Start paying all my bills, my student loans, my car payment, my rent, etc. then we'll talk about how you'd "like" me to start talking.

Deal?

Until then you can shutyoface,

Honey if you don't understand correctly if you were my wife that would be exactly what I'd be taking care of. You wouldn't have to worry your pretty little head about any of that.

Everyone just needs to stop focusing on his beliefs on feminism. Because of feminists, I watch other women (and myself) get treated like just another man by complete strangers.

You should be so lucky to be treated like a man in America!! Have you any idea what male vs. female salaries and upper management statistics look like?? I'd rather have a door slammed shut in my face than lose my ability to lose my ability to have legal recourse when discriminated in the workplace (which men have, too).

Because of these evil women who pushed feminism down your throat you have the right to DECIDE if you want to stay home, not stay home, wear make up, not be raped by your spouse and about a hundred other things that I could sit here and list.

People who don't give up seats for someone carrying a bunch of stuff or the sick, elderly, pregnant or whatever are RUDE. This has nothing to do with the fact I can sue my employer for letting all the male employees send me lewd emails.

Except for elder men. They take the door from my hand when I try to open it for them, because they were raised a long time ago, when it was common decency to be a gentleman.

I open the door for everyone, male or female, and I smile pleasantly and say thank you when someone holds open or opens a door for me, pulls out a chair, etc.

I'm very charming and gracious, which I don't think is the opposite of being independent and being able to be in charge of your own life.

I'd never tell another woman not to do something with her hair or not to wear makeup.

If I had kids and I had the opportunity to raise them because my husband could make more money than me, I would. If I made more, he could raise them. I know a SAHD who's very happy with the situation he's in. And he's extremely masculine. His wife just happens to make more than he can (he's in school), and they wanted one of them at home with their kids.

That's not a feminist, that's an a-hole.

I love it when ANYONE holds open the door for me, especially little kids!! OMG, so adorable. They get my absolute best smile and a very happy, "Aren't you a sweetheart! Thank you!"

I agree but they call themselves feminist. The religious right are not true christians either but they still call themselves that.

For the record, the guy I'm dating asked if I would consider staying home. He's a doctor, so it would be feasible to live on his income alone.

I just smiled coyly and said, "Welp, I don't have any aspirations of being CFO of my company..." So that was pretty much that.

Oh god here we go and this is why I can't stand feminism.

Excuse but if you're so equal why do you need special laws? hmmm I mean if you get discriminated against couldn't you just work some where else... and this company passing up all the valid employees would just be beat by the companies who don't discriminate? hmmm It just doesn't add up. So you have all these quota type jobs. Equal pay is a joke. You get the pay the market determines you deserve. This idea that power magically flows to those most discriminatory is a false.

When you find your perfect little woman who will OF COURSE feel equally enamored of you, and the two of you live happily ever after and she is just *perfect* and you are just *perfect*, send me a post card from Fairy Tale Land, ok?

I don't have special laws. You can't discriminate based on GENDER, not on being a WOMAN.

Let me disabuse of something right here. NO ONE is passing up well qualified men to hire women. NO ONE. Christ, I don't know if I want to laugh or cry.

So if I pass up this magical over qualified woman to hire a some stupid man or at the very least less qualified man how does this benefit me. In fact wouldn't I be passing up a great opportunity to get a qualified employee? Wouldn't my competitors get these over qualified women every one else passes up at bargain rate there for putting me out of business or at the very least doing better than me... It all makes no sense. It's about giving a disgruntled woman something to cry about to daddy law. It's a real sad mentality that I wouldn't want to date.

Just out of curiosity, where are all of these feminist women coming from that are beating down your door to date you? :p

There's been numerous studies done where employers were given identical resumes, with the one change being the name of the person, and the women were chosen to be less 'hireable' and also had a smaller starting pay. Here's one of the studies: http://www.pnas.org/content/early/2012/09/14/1211286109.full.pdf

I'll quote the line that matters so you don't have to read the whole thing:

"Faculty participants rated the male applicant as signifi-

cantly more competent and hireable than the (identical) female

applicant. These participants also selected a higher starting salary

and offered more career mentoring to the male applicant."

"Mediation analyses indicated that the

female student was less likely to be hired because she was viewed

as less competent."

Remember, they had identical resumes. And you're telling me we don't need laws for equal pay? I'm pretty sure that if I was a male, my starting salary at this company would've been at least 10% higher.

I'm just giving simple dating advice to men to avoid feminist when seeking a serious relationship.

Gotcha. You realize they're not all like you, right?

So what's your girlfriend like?

I love that I have the RIGHT to choose what I want to do. I DO NOT like that I get JUDGED because I chose the "wrong thing" I like that I can do what I want if I want to. If I wanted to I could become a construction worker. I appreciate the option. But I don't WANT to do a manly job. I don't want to be a manly woman. And every modern young woman who hails feminism pushes the idea onto me that I SHOULD want to do stuff like that. It's annoying to constantly get reamed by friends and accquaintances that I'm not trying to "be all I can be" in the good old U.S.A. I am perfectly capable of changing my own tires, changing my oil, jump starting a car. I was raised by a single father who worries and makes sure I have the ability to do this stuff on my own. I KNOW how to do a lot of stuff that is considered a man's work. I have the right to decide, and a lot of the times do decide, that I do not WANT to do men's work (obviously since I don't have a man I don't have much of a choice right now) for the rest of my life. But modern feminists have taken it further than just giving women opportunities. They make me feel like I HAVE to do that stuff.

If my car breaks down on the side of the road, flat tire, dies, whatever, I promise you I'm sitting in my car with locked doors and calling one of my male friends to come help me. And all these women I know look down on me for that.

How can women throw a fit about being equal to men when they can't even consider themselves equal to other women who don't want the same things out of life?

You're not better than me just because you're chasing a high paying job, that just makes us different. I respect a woman's right to choose to do those things just as much as every other woman should respect my right to choose to love men.

I don't like to do any of those things either. Just like men typically don't do most of the cooking or patching up shirts (not saying they can't or don't).

Also, hun, just because someone is chasing a high powered job doesn't mean she doesn't also love men. I don't know if it's just the area I live in, but nearly everyone I encounter is the same = educated, 9-5 professional job, enjoys happy hours. I don't encounter feminism at all. Everyone just works and has fun and we don't think about who stays home, who doesn't, etc.

hmmm okay so you need special laws because society views you as less even though you're equal... But we have special laws so maybe that's adding to the perceived incompetence?

Who's health care costs the company more... who's more likely to take time off, or have children... I know I know that's not fair! I'm just talking realities here.

Also if women are getting paid 10% less for equal work... that would be an incredible... incredible way to make a sht ton of money. Simply hire women at 10% less than men, women who are equally as capable as men who misogynisticly get paid more for NO reason and wow your company does great. It's like china you simply make all your stuff in China because its cheaper. You simply hire all women because they are cheaper....

I mean there are so many holes in your logic haha

How many times do you have to be told, women don't have special laws. Let me demonstrate.

Let's say I hire you and three other women in this thread and you are all at the same level. I pay the women $85k and I pay you $60k. Furthermore, let's say the gals and I decide to get life sized posters of our hot boyfriends in underwear and hang them in the break room. Everyday when you get your coffee, we insist you stand against the wall of our hot guys and we take note of your flaws.

NOW, even though you are a man-you can sue for discrimination based on pay AND hostile work environment.

Can I be one of the three other women?

Ok, DC4 and Drseussgrrl will be providing all of the answers I would be providing from now on.
