Never thought I'd see the day, but promisingly there's this woman that's a bit of a small town celebrity that grew up in this area. Kind of grew up with a long standing network of family connections in the area that go waaay back and I was surprised to find here on POF. lol One of those "Upper-middle" class types.

She's a local P.R. celebrity, done many charity events and is a co-host on a local TV show. PR specialist, marketing rep, sales, etc. VERY attractive woman for someone living in these parts.

I was just wondering if anyone had seen such a person popup on a dating site, esp. why the need? They are in constant contact with the public, you figured they'd have no problem getting a date. But she's on POF? That's amazingly shocking. lol She did mention in her profile that she has a hard time meeting people locally.

She did mention she can't find what she's looking for here, so has resorted to online dating.

I would have to guess it's because anyone that's even remotely physically attractive and intelligent (in my area) is already married or spoken for, so the pickings are VERY slim.

What are the chances it's actually her and not someone using her picture?

Just sayin'...

There's your answer.

Who she wants isn't in her town, so she's using OLD to find someone who lives elsewhere.

Way too many pictures for one, and there's other identifiers about her that make me all to familiar with her social circles.

I mean it IS possible that someone went through a whole lot of work to put together her profile as a joke, but you never know. I always thought she was married actually. I could verify by contacting her on FB , Linked in, or many other of her websites. LOL

She said "living close is a plus"....so, chances are she's FULLY rooted in this fishbowl community.

I met a [nationally] famous guy through online site 2 years ago... it was really him. Famous people feel lonely too.

Didn't work though... ego the size of the moon.

Seen a few actresses on POF who I know of - one was on a nationwide TV children's show.

That's why professional matchmakers seek out wealthy/famous singles (while forgetting that such people are just as messed-up as the rest of us, only with fatter bank accounts).

Sometimes actors who travel a lot have difficulty actually meeting someone for a long term relationship. Online dating gives her some sort of control and she can see what is out there. Like most women, I think she would be very picky about who she IMs and calls on the site. She doesn't want the creeps or one night stands. I would be she only talks to 5 guys on the site at max.

Some people also go on the sites for publicity and to raise her single flag. That way, other men in the "real world" know that she single and looking. There are lots of normal high quality guys who avoid OLD, but hear she's single and will ask her out next time they run into her. She's probably at an age where she has given up on the bar scene, and most of her friends are getting married, so she's bored with single life and looking for a husband.

She isn't a celebrity "technically" if you were to call her a celebrity, but only in a population of a po-dunk town. If you went beyond the borders of the county, some people wouldn't know her from Adam.

I recently dated a man who is rather well known in his business. Lots of articles about him in established newspapers which discuss his work. Famous enough that when his ex-wife gets any press, it's always mentioned that she was married to him. He's a bit of a loner due to the nature of his work, so does online dating.

Funny thing....this woman actually appeared on a front cover of a local magazine, usually found on a stand with "Free take one" on it....she's got a cover photo and next to her a blurb that says, "Un-hitched" living single in (name of Mayberry-like county)

Apparently, her friends tell she's probably the most eligible bachelorette over the age of 40 in the area. LOL

These people typically socialize with the people they grew up with since grade school, and are not open to seeking out new friendships.

'resort' to online dating

It's 2013 and OLD has been around now for 25 years, time to get with the times.. OLD isn't what it used to be, today it is a perfectly normal way to find someone.. that is how I met my wife.. we didn't resort to having to find each other that way.. we just did it...

A celebrity is also just a person just like anyone else so why wouldn't they use OLD to find someone ?

Some of these people date online because they are writing or presenting a story about online dating. You could read or hear about your date in a newspaper or on TV. Don't worry, they always change the names to protect the guilty.
