What Colognes do single women like on men?

For me, that one is the WORST. Smells like bug spray and I've been known to extricate myself from elevators or offices when someone walks in wearing it...:sick::sick:

I can agree with that. A lot of the low end stuff just smells like chemical to me, which I hate and refuse to wear. The ones that don't, smell too powdery and/or sweet, which is not really masculine at all.

Honestly I dont like cologne. I prefer natural scents.

I guess for me personally I can take it or leave it, but prefer natural body scent. I enjoy getting my lips and nose right up on a guy's neck, if we're making out,:o so I don't want to be overwhelmed with a strong chemical odor. And if you use too much, then the chemicals used in the cologne become too obvious.

But as Carrie said, if I've become attracted to a man, its likely because maybe he was confident, maybe he challenged my brain or he works hard, etc. But if he wanted to wear cologne the right way that would be his choice, but he doesn't have to wear it for me.

Aqua di Gio is awesome but that has also made it too common.

D&G The One is now the way to go.

Also, as these ladies are pointing out, a man should naturally smell good! If you're living a healthy lifestyle and groom well then a man's skin will smell nice. She'll put her nose up close and just take the man in. Even the spicy "just finished working out" scent will turn many women on. Not to be confused with simply having BO.

BTW I'm often complimented without any cologne and I wonder if they just pickup the deodorant? If that's the case, go with the lighter scents from Degree ;)

Go to a department store and ask for samples after sniffing a few of the testers to narrow down the number. Then try two at a time, on on the back of each wrist (don't wear a watch) and ask women which they prefer saying you are trying to decide. Good way to meet women and pick a cologne most like at the same time. Probably better to do within sight of the fragrance counter so they believe your story. "I can't decide which one to buy."

A guy wearing cologne is a guy I'll approach if I'm interested in dating. A guy who smells natural and maybe a tiny bit sweaty is a guy I'll approach if I'm interested in f*cking.

Seriously... are you a bit simple!?!?!

really!?!? WTF

no wonder you can't get a women if this is how you think... a high powered office executive!?!?! are you Dr Sheldon or what!?!?!?

FFS....

Have you smelled it? At least in the magazine, it smells very clean and crisp, good for the office or sales guy. Other colognes are made for meeting women, but the Trump cologne seems perfect for work functions.

OP - I have had a few women (early to mid 30s) talk highly of Aqua di Gio recently. I get sick of any of my colognes if I use them to often. I have ones from Dunhill, Hugo Boss & Acqua Di Parma in rotation at the moment, and have got the most compliments on the later, though no brand's going to be a panty dropper if you are short on charisma, style or looks.

I would love to see a study of women's preference in mens cologne, based on the personality type and age of the woman. It would not shock me if there was a correlation. I guess a guy who was a ladies man could do some field testing with many colgone sample packs.

Be careful as some females are either allergic or sensitive to perfumes and colognes. If anyone is wearing too much of either, or more than a small amount, I withdraw immediately.

There is no single scent women across the board like. Except babies. Smell like them. Or puppies. Or kittens.
Personally, I would not date a woman who gets sexually aroused by babies and puppies.

But that's just me. . . .

Some men don't know how to apply cologne properly (few squirts, neck, wrists, chest and it's meant to be so people close to you can smell you, not people in the next room) but no doubt about it if you wear the right scent, in the right way, around the right woman, sparks fly.

I've tried them all, every cologne mentioned in this thread and then some. I used to be really into it and would get a new one every few months. I have four go to scents, two that are light and fresh smelling, two that are unique, masculine, and suit my actual personality more.

For the clean smelling scents it's Prada for men and L'eau D'issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake. The latter being the ultimate in light and fresh.

For more rugged, masculine scents, Vintage Black by Kenneth Cole, and The Dreamer by Versace. I believe The Dreamer came out in 94, I could be wrong, but early 90's, so no one really wears it. Gives me an edge.

Paco rabanne

there is a difference betwen body odor and a natural masculine smell, i love paco but i also love a natural masculine smell, the only time sweat seems to smell to me and turn into b o is when i thas been on the skin all day, while a guy is sweating it doesnt smell, i would say its bacteria forming that causes the offensive odor.I like guys to sweat......im out....deb

Or, if a guy has BO, he should date a woman who's anosmic. :lmao:

That, or date a gassy girl who farts all the time, like that Flatulina chick.

its not the cologne that makes the man. its just the icing on the cake once you get your grooming and hygiene down pat. here's my list.

not in any specific order-

Lacoste essential- 4/5 underrated

HUgo-hugo boss-3.5/5 classic

Kenneth cole reaction 3.5/5 another classic

eternity CK-classic but amazing 4/5

ck one summer-very hard to find 4.5/5

ck one electric very hard to find 4.5/5

Acqua di gio. 4/5

faconnable-any are nice 4/5

Bulgari Aqua marine-the marine version is much nicer. 4.5/5

D&G dolce and gabbana 3.5/5

armani sport code. pretty new 4/5

l-eau d'issey issey miyake is also nice. 3.5/5

I like clean and citus/sea style scents. almost feminine. I hate musky vanilla scents. not too much though. 1-2 sprays. it wears off till I get to my woman so its exactly the right amount. when I wear my button down shirt, my lady goes crazy. she wants to rip my shirt off and bury her nose in my breasteses.

Anyone seriously interested in learning more about fragrance should check out Base Notes. They also have a forum where you can ask questions.

Bottom line, though, as with food, you have to sample lots of different kinds to know what you like or don't like. I'm guessing the BaseNotes forum probably will sell or swap samples as well. I used to be a fragrance junkie and that's how I got lots of samples, many of which I have today.

The last time I went cologne shopping with my ex I remember really liking a couple of the YSL ones. They were unique smelling without being abrasive or overpowering.

In general I prefer a minimalist approach...less is more.

That's exactly why I brought up the question. There are some colognes that I like, but I don't think it would be very enticing for women. Having a nice smell is enticing and noticeable. In addition, having an unpleasant or neutral smell will hurt a guy in the art of seduction.

Women wear perfume to smell nice, but certain perfumes are also enticing and let men know that this woman wearing it is single and looking for a boyfriend.

I think even a guy with a dull personality can "keep a woman interested in him" if he smells irresistable up close. I don't use Axe spray, but their commercials used to show women all over men using it; and it helped sales.

Another good site for you OP is fragrantica.

They have ratings of each cologne or perfume, that you can filter by sex and age, though people will tend to rate their own product rather than those used by the opposite sex unless its something they love on their partner.

There is also break down of fragrances by scent sub-types.

MoreThanThat

I prefer just clean smell or a light one like CK1. I have asthma and although perfume ON me doesn't trigger it (I've been wearing Obsession for years so am used to it), strong scents on others can.
